Matthew Black on SoundBetter

Pittsburgh-based mix/master engineer and producer specializing in CCM, Gospel, Jazz, Blues, Rock, Folk, and Pop. Worked with the band Songs for Revival. Maybe you'll be next?

Hey there! I'm Matthew Black, a seasoned audio engineer based in Pittsburgh. Specializing in mixing, mastering, and production, I bring 8 years of industry experience and a diverse skill set to the table.
My journey in audio engineering began with solid training at The Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences. From there, I jumped into live sound, refining my craft while providing exceptional audio experiences for various events. Throughout my career, I've seamlessly transitioned between live sound and studio work, applying knowledge from both to a range of projects. I take pride in understanding and realizing my clients' visions, collaborating closely with them across genres.

I am available for hire for live sound needs in the Pittsburgh Area. I would be open to travel as well so lets connect!

I offer mixing, mastering, producing, drum tracking, sound design, dialogue editing, post-mixing, and podcast editing.

Prices can vary depending on the needs of the project. Contact me and let's see how we can make something work for both of us!

  13. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  14. A: I mainly mix, master, consult, produce, or track drums. I generally get files sent to me that were recorded by either the band or from a live show and will mix those. In other situations, I have helped the artist with recording techniques, equipment needs, and DAW workflows so they can be more self-sufficient. I also produce with a few of the artists I work with who have weaknesses in some areas that are my strengths to help them complete their vision for their music.
