I’m a versatile songwriter, topliner, and vocalist with over a decade of experience creating music that resonates. Whether you need powerful lyrics, dynamic vocals, or a fresh melody, I’m here to bring your vision to life.

From radio hits on Kiss FM, Radio 1, and 1XTRA, to live performances at iconic UK festivals like Glastonbury, Wireless, and Boomtown, I’ve had the privilege of working across a variety of genres, including pop, RnB, hip-hop, and world music. My pop vocals naturally lean toward artists like Kehlani, Jhene Aiko, and Ariana Grande.

I specialise in full-track lyric writing, melody suggestions, demo vocals, pre-written toplines, and backing vocals, offering custom packages tailored to your project’s needs. All prices include maintaining my publishing share, but I'm happy to discuss buyout options.

For Uncredited Features, you’re free to use my vocals without crediting my name. However, if you're looking for a full feature with a credited name, that’s open for discussion too.

Please note, that demos are strictly for demonstration purposes only and cannot be posted or released publicly (i.e., no YouTube, SoundCloud, etc.) unless otherwise agreed. Once work has begun, no refunds will be issued.

Interview with Solo Jane

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I worked on a project with multiple songwriters, writing for a female Disco artist. The artist was having a hard time connecting with the suggested lyrics, so instead we decided to have a small break. During the break she started to share a story from a night out she recently had, I felt immediately inspired by her story and I quietly began transposing her story into a verse and hook. Once we began the session I shared what I had written, which then became the exact verse used, and inspired the rest of the song. The hook was slightly tweaked as a group, however, I was able to draw inspiration from her own life which then made the lyrics connect with her personally which to me felt amazing.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: At the moment I am working on finishing off singles ready for release and getting ready to start making new music.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: I know Fabien Darcy, and would always recommend him!

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Analog offers warmth and character, while digital provides precision and versatility; many blend both for a rich, flexible sound so really for me its project dependant! Although usually I just leave that up too my engineer haha.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: I promise to always give 100% to your project and to always ensure that you are happy and confident in the process at every step.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: I love that it allows me to connect with so many creatives and clients. Songwriting and singing are my biggest passions in life, so being able to do this full time and for this to now fund my life has been life-changing. I love my work!

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: Are they able to release the demo? - No! Are they able to use my name as the feature when being a vocalist? - Im happy to discuss however would need to speak to my management first after the final track is mastered. Do I the client own the full rights to the lyrics or vocals sent? - No, I will always take my percentage on the split, however always happy to discuss a buyout option on every project!

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: Being a freelance songwriter/vocalist isn’t just about inspiration; it’s about hard work, unpredictability, and managing your career—creativity needs discipline!

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: I always ask for a vocal reference if not provided as it is the easiest way to hear the style you have in mind for either vocal melody or sound. I ask what is specified for the project e.g. Do you need a fully mixed demo or just a raw mp3 for lyric demo's? Do you need adlib and harmony suggestions etc? In summary, I will ask as many questions as I can think of until satisfied that we are on the same page.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: To give me as much information as possible in the Brief so that we can get the project completed to the best standard possible in the most efficient time. For example; What you are looking for - e.g I need a fully written song - I want 2 verses and 2 hooks / Feel free to come up with the structure etc Any concept you may have for the lyrics - e.g love A vocal reference so I can hear the sound you have in mind. e.g Beyonce - Drunk In Love

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: Acoustic Guitar - I would teach myself Portable Digital Recorder Laptop USB Solar Powered Battery Pack

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I have been an artist for over a decade now and a full-time songwriter/vocalist now for 2 years. I began working on Fiverr which allowed me to become self-employed and opened the door to me being a full-time creative.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: My style naturally is relatable lyrics on RnB Trap-style productions. I like to find nice pockets and flows so that my melodies are capturing and exciting.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I would love to work with Anderson Paak. I love how he brings a track to life, and it would be great to experience that first-hand. I think he is a visionary musically so it would be amazing to see where he would place me as the vocalist and as the writer I already have tracks that I believe were made for him. Either way, it would be an amazing session.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: One tip I follow is not to overthink and instead to flow with it. I always find that when you have to really start thinking about what to say as a writer is often when it becomes hardest. Taking a break and coming back with fresh ears and an open mind often really helps to respeak the creativity and get the ball rolling again.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: I usually end up working on RnB/Pop or Rap style tracks as a songwriter alone. However as a vocalist too I work on many different styles depending on what is needed. For my music, I release everything from RnB to DnB so I usually work on everything, all the time.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: I am a stronger songwriter than a vocalist, It is a skill that I have worked at daily for over a decade and have spent a lot of time nurturing and developing. I am however a great vocalist, so it is a hard question the answer!

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I bring relatable, strong and passionate lyrics, followed by a unique and clear vocal. With a solid understanding of how to bring your vision to life.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: I usually like to understand as much about the project as possible to ensure we are on the same page. I would then write a draft version of the lyrics and record a quick demo, that I then share for feedback. I then repeat this process until the client is happy with the finished lyrics. I will then re-record the demo so that it is ready to go, as well as add any adlib and melody suggestions if required. If I am also the vocalist, I will spend longer recording the final demo and instead will record the track as a single. Providing 3 x Lead stems as well as any other tracks discussed in the initial brief. My process is very flexible and am always happy to discuss the project throughout the process to achieve the best results.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I have a home studio, complete with everything needed to provide you with quality stems. Including Rode Mic, Focusrite Interface, Logic DAW and soundproofing.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: Musically I am inspired by so many different artists, but heres a few of my favourites; Black Eyed Peas, Frank Ocean, Kehlani, Jhene Aiko, Anderson Paak, Kaytranada, Beyonce

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: The most common work I do for clients is a mixture of songwriting and vocal work. I often work on RnB/Pop style tracks as a songwriter, however also work on many different genres such as hip-hop to Dance music. Once given a brief, I work closely with my clients to ensure that their vision is captured and begin working on the project.
