Over 7 years, I've been dealing with music production for rap and rock genres. My improvement comes from my own songs and creativity.
Hello, I'm Hardrope. I have been making music for over 5 years. In this time, I attended a course giving lectures about mixing and mastering. I also got benefit from vocal coaches instructions for metal vocals and singing. After 5 years making music, I developed some skills about music production and beat making. I do not only mix for the quality but also for the emotions in the song.
I highly prefer to work with Rap (modern rap, trap, emo rap, old school etc.) and Metal&Rock (Heavy metal, thrash metal, punk rock, etc.) and singer/songwriter genres.
I need some informations about the taste in the song you want to achieve. (e.g., vocal and instruments level and naturelness level of the sounds)

Interview with Hardrope
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I worked on "Can't be me" from lyrics writing to production. I am really proud of how I kept the vocal lines close to the artist's real voice. Vocal lines are powerful and smooth and surrounded by the instruments, so the emotions and the scope of the song were actually preserved and reflected to the audience.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I will try to achieve the taste of the soud in your mind and I will collaborativle revise the final product with you.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I really like giving life to a song and also review of the final product to get benefit from it for the further projects. So, eternal ideas and learning process make me much pleased.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Look at the most recent products of them, if you like it, then look for their ethics and communcation skills.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Microphone, sound interace, studio monitors and headphones, and an electric guitar.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started at the first grade in high school. I have still been learning and discovering new approaches for new sounds. Until now, I have been dealing with music production over 7 years. I have released more than 40 songs, but many of which were on my eary age of music production, so I can now see the development.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I'm closer to the natural sound from vocals and powerful sound from instruments. I usually prefer to make all the sounds have presence in the mix for the audience and I try to achieve the audience to be lost in the song.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Mix a channel by listening to all channels together and avoid the graphics to disrupt you. These are the most important knowledge I have learned from Jordan Valeriote. And there is no rule but just emotions.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Emo rap, pop rap and singer/songwriter
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My layered approach to a song is my strongest skill. I listen the song to understand and feel the lyrics and instruments before mixing. That shapes up my approach in terms of adjusting the balance between instruments and vocals and also their tone.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring meaning to a song matching with the genre and the emotions, so the process is not only for quality but also for reflecting the emotions in the artist's mind.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I start with the audio and make it available for the mixing in terms of fade in and fade out and also the input gain. After that, I make them powerful and smooth without using single channel (using compression, eq, saturations and side chains, and fx on the vocals if necessary. Then I do the process of gain staging to make it available for the mastering process. In the mastering process, I adjust the low-mid-high frequencies corresponding to the genre and also the emotions of the song. In final, I adjust the loudness for compatibility with streaming platforms. I also listen to the final product with 5 hours intervals to make sure that it is good enough. Exposing to long time sessions without breaks makes identification of the frequencies so much harder because ears get tired.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Even though I have been making rap music, Metallica, Judas Priest have a huge impact on me because they are sounding so natural in terms of vocal lines. That's why I cannot identify the exact genre I'm making because it contains rap instruments combined with electric guitar and singing vocal lines.
