Mees Loenen

Indie Pop/Electro Pop Producer

Mees Loenen on SoundBetter

Hi, I'm Mees Loenen. I believe music has one fundamental purpose: transmitting emotion. The best songs inspire, make us happy, or move us to tears. I want to collaborate with you to create amazing tracks. I'm comfortable working in various genres, including indie pop, folk, house, and modern pop. I'll help to achieve your goals.

I've worked with several producers, songwriters, and bands. These experiences have helped me develop a keen sense for incorporating multiple perspectives into a project. I rely on good communication to ensure we're all on the same page.

You can reach out to me with any rough ideas or an existing production that needs a finishing touch. Either way, my job is to make your song meet or exceed your expectations.

My most valuable ability is my capability to record and play a wide variety of instruments. I can record and play guitar, electric guitar, bass, synthesizers, piano, and vocals. With my extensive experience in playing instruments, I am highly flexible as a producer. While I primarily sing in Dutch, English isn't a problem, allowing us to share and create ideas quickly.

Let's make some amazing tracks together.

Interview with Mees Loenen

  1. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  2. A: My MacBook, a Shure SM57, a raft, a water supply, and a flare gun.

  3. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  4. A: I could explain how to create amazing synth patches in Serum or how granular synthesis transformed my sound, but the most important aspect of music production is staying consistent in your creativity.

  5. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  6. A: Communication! I want to emphasize its importance. Most of my projects turn out so well because of effective communication.

  7. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  8. A: In addition to maintaining a fast and creative workflow, I bring a lot of positive energy to the studio.

  9. Q: What's your typical work process?

  10. A: I always like to divide music production into different stages. When creating the first demo, I aim to work as quickly as possible. Overthinking can bring your creative process to a halt. Once I have a clear sense of where the song is headed, I take a closer look and let my perfectionist side take over.

  11. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  12. A: Growing up, I would listen to Queen for days on end. I feel like this deeply influenced my ability to understand what makes a great pop song. Nowadays, I admire the work of producer Jack Antonoff. He always serves the song in the best possible way, crafting inspiring and unique pop tracks. To me, he’s a true hero.
