Hey there, I'm Alberto Fernandez, a Nicaraguan soaking up the Dutch vibes for a cool five years now. I've got a musical heartbeat, starting as a drummer and evolving into an audio engineer after studying sound engineering here in the Netherlands.
I can bring your recordings to life with a full with mix, I can also help you with the mastering of your songs to meet the industry standards and get the best out of your mix, or both!.
If you are in the Netherlands I can record your demo, songs, albums and as a drummer I can program realistic feel drums for any genre (grooves, sound, type of drums, etc.).
My past experience also includes 15 years in the music and event industry as a producer, designing and organizing the biggest events and concerts in Nicaragua and Honduras (as part of the producing team). I'm all about music, all about collaborating and working with other people.

Endorse Alberto FernándezIve worked with Alberto on a few projects and I gotta say they were some of the best experiences I've had! He's inspired, fun, respectful and extremely creative and versatile.
Alberto also has a great eye for drum arrangements, which was a very unexpected and useful surprise:)
I can't recommend him enough! Hope to work with him more in the future!
Working with Alberto has been a delightful experience. I've recorded four songs with him, and he consistently manages to foster an atmosphere of professionalism, creativity, and collaboration. 100% recommended!
Un gran trabajo de masterización hizo Alberto en mí proyecto como guitarrista, dándole ese toque caliente al sonido y levantando sonidos de fondo, gran ser humano y siempre volcado a la música, 100% recomendado! (Próximamente en Spotify)
Interview with Alberto Fernández
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: All of them to be honest. I learn more and more in every project so nothing has been in vain.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Several projects. - Re recording badly recorded songs from 20 years ago. They are sounding amazing in their new life! - Re cording two artist, full live instruments except the drums which I already programed> - Just mastered 16 songs for an album that will be released shortly. - Waiting to master two songs from a project we recorded in my home studio, I programed the drums but The artist will do his own mix.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Yes! La Pedroni with her vocals!
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: both, because there are awesome things about both worlds.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: We will work to get this sounding great!
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Creativity and working with creatives!
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That i'ts easy hahaha
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Depends on the project, cant really say.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Don't be scared to ask anything, I'm open to work with you to get the best out of your project. No question and No request is "stupid". Feel free to ask anything because Im super chill.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: - Solar Charger - Battery Inverter - Laptop - Microphone - Keyboard with pads like an Arturia Keylab
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started out as a drummer in my teenage years but my family has always been "musical". Then I went into the event production industry and worked in massive concerts in Nicaragua and Honduras. I've always liked everything surrounding music arts. As an Engineer I have two years but don't let the 2 fool you :D
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don't overthink it! trust your ears and accept feedback. If your feel it sounds good than maybe it does!. Don't let the imposter syndrome in all of us take control >D.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I've mostly worked with rock music but can definitely work other genres if I put my mind to it.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: patience!
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I like recording Live instruments as much as possible, I'm also patient and like to work with the clients ideas until they are satisfied. I have a drummer way of thinking, so I I need to say what else I bring to a song is that, programing believable drums that sound organic.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: It will all depend on the project, but I like the work going to basics. Record the base of the song with an acoustic guitar and build up from there. If I'm the one writing the drums for the project this will be the first step, recording the base of the song with a metronome and writing the drums afterwards, then add the bass and continue layering. Like I said before, it all depends on the project.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My Home studio is a small setup with a Tascam Model 12, Top Ernie Ball Instrument Cable, Shure sm58, Rode NT2-A, Tonex Pedal and Amplitube Max with a good pair of Monitors Focal Alpha 50 Evo, LAG Occitania Classic Guitar, Ibanez Western Guitar.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I am now doing a little of everything. setting up microphones for live drum recording sessions, vocalist recordings, Recording in my home studio and also in the United Pop Studios in Amsterdam. Recording Guitarists and Bassist using amplitube max for different tones, also recording live acoustic guitars (classic and western). Programing Drums with tunetrack with a "real drumer" feal. with these same clients I've assisted in some of the mixing process in some songs and currently mixing others. Recently Mastered a full album that will be released in the near future.
- Mastering a 16 song Album, well sort of...Jan 18, 2024
Just mastered 16 songs that an artist has been recording, producing and mixing by himself for a while now. 12 of the songs will go to his new release in the near future and 4 will go to the next release.
I'm happy to say that he loved the outcome!
