You may have heard my guitar or bass playing on Lucy Dacus' discography, any of the illuminati hotties LPs, or songs from folks such as Eliza McLamb, Crooks and Nannies, Landon Elliott, and others. I live in Philadelphia and love traveling for work, but I love remote recording just as much!
Hello! My name is Jacob. I'm a producer, guitar player, bass player, arranger, multi-instrumentalist, etc. I'm basically just an all around music person, with guitar as my main instrument. I love to get to the heart of a song, learn what it means to the artist, and help convey that meaning through the instrumentation that I provide. I'm not the fastest or slickest player out there, but I want to find a guitar part that feels like it already existed in the aether and is essential component of the song. To me, a guitar part is perfect when it feels obvious, like it could have been anything but of course it is this. Sometimes this is simple power chords, and sometimes it is layers of interlocking lines and ambient textures. It's all dependent on the song and the vision of the artist.
After an initial conversation about direction and references, I'll send something over as soon as I can. If it's not right, it will at least serve as a jumping off point. It's often easiest to know what you want when you can talk about it in reference to something concrete. I'll happily try ideas until we are both happy with the results :)
Rates can be negotiated based on the size and scope of a project.
You can listen to my playing on Lucy Dacus' whole discography as well as LPs from illiminatti hotties, Eliza McLamb, Crooks and Nannies, Landon Elliott, and more.

Jacob is by far the most thoughtful producer I have worked with, offered the coolest ideas while still maintaining the vision of the track. Stoked with the result and hope to work with him again!
Jacob Blizard is as good as it gets. He's a brilliantly skilled and creative guitarist, can write perfect string arrangements fast, and is fantastic at all the tech minutia. He's the kind of person that you love more after spending a million hours on tour together (and most people are not like that!) As a music director, he's able to seamlessly weave back and forth between the big picture and smaller details, and manages to allow everyone in the room to be their best musical selves. Sincerely one of the most thoughtful, talented people I've had the pleasure of working with.
Jacob played guitar on my debut album and has also played guitar in my band on tour. During tour, Jacob went so above and beyond — helping me learn guitar parts I was shaky on, giving on-the-spot arrangement suggestions, and keeping the mood light throughout. He’s not only an excellent musician, but a great collaborator and friend. As a woman in my 20’s who is relatively new to the industry, I really appreciate the way that Jacob shares his knowledge without ever being pedantic and always while respecting my vision. I would highly recommend Jacob in basically every scenario.
Jacob is the most professional musician I’ve ever had the pleasure of hiring to record with. He showed up to each session completely prepared, and went above and beyond to help shape my album into what it is today. I don’t have as much studio experience as him, so he was really patient and understanding towards that. He was hired to write/record guitar, and exceeded expectations by also offering ideas for bass and synth as well. Overall, I don’t know if I’d ever want to write another album without him again!
If you’re looking for production, guitar at the highest level of musicality, or even just a great hang look no further. I’ve been working with Jacob closely for the last 6-7 years and he always brings uninhibited tones, creative playing, and an amazing attitude to our sessions. I’ve yet to meet a musician with a higher skill set - he’s prepared to play parts already written as well as help invent new sounds to take your music to the next level. Jacob is reliable, kind, and professional. He is simply the greatest!
I’ve worked with Jacob on ~10 songs over the last few years. In each experience I’ve felt listened to, like my ideas and opinions are valued, and extremely satisfied and inspired by the results. Jacob brings a wealth of experience and knowledge in traditional music theory, contemporary recording techniques, as well as a finger on the pulse of music trends/sounds. He walks the line of working efficiently without rushing, so you get your moneys worth while still having space to talk about what you like or don’t like about the parts/sounds. I recommend him 1000%
Interview with Jacob Blizard
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Your preferences as a producer or session player do not matter more than the preferences of the person hiring you. Hopefully, your preferences align, but at the end of the day it is the artist's name on the finished product, and they need to be happiest with it.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I have the most experience working with indie songwriters, and I love working in that genre. I love layering, texture, and interesting tones, and I feel very at home working on sensitive personal music.
