Interview with Bubble Gum Music Studio
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Definitely Brahm Fidders from This Mix Is Sick
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: 1 pair yamaha HS8 1 DUET By Apogee Sennheiser 490pro Beyerdynamic 990 pro Beyerdynamic 770 pro Faderport by Presonus SE Electronics mic
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I have released a track called "Belong To Me" in 2021. I have fully produced the track and it was released on Revealed Recordings. The tracks received a lot of support on radioshows, clubs and festivals and it became one of the most played tracks on 1001 tracklists.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Lots of ghost productions and mixes
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital We think it's not worth spending thousands for gears yet even if we have some small pieces in the studio.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: We won't stop working until you are fully satisfied!
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The creative aspect of it and all the technicalities of the mixing side.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: How did you make that bass sound that fat? How do you make that vocal stand out in the mix? How did you make that kick? Answers always depend on the questions and the song itself but we actually love giving answers to clients!
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Most of people think is just a fun game made of clicking some buttons or listening to some music and recreate it but they have no idea how much effort we have to put into this job in order to sound professional.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: It depends on the job they ask. For mixing I would ask to export all the stems in Wav, no plugins on the master bus, make sure they don't clip when exporting and maybe 2,3 reference tracks.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Always look for quality and don't always try to spend "less" because you will most likely end up spending more in the end.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My Sennheiser 490 pro My Keybord My laptop My Apple trackpad My Mic
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: Me (Gabriele) have been working in music industry for over 10 years now. I have started djing 15 years ago and then I thought it would have been nice to make people dance on my own music. I started with knowing the daw first (Ableton at the time and now Logic Pro) and then I have started releasing some stuff on my own before starting collaborating.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: We don't have a precise style, we are very flexible.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Matroda, love his creativity. Nu Aspect or Avaion, love their melodic stuff. Disclousre, he is just insanely good at producing,
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Try to know very well a small number of VSTs or Plugins instead of buying hundreds of them.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Tech House Deep House Techno Melodic Techno Rap / Trap Piano Ballad
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: We are very good at understanding client's request and that helps us making them satisfied in the end!
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: We will bring colour, life, strenght and loudness-
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: For mixing and mastering: Full review of the track, stems organization (groups and busses), referencing with a pro mastered track.
