I'm here to help you find solutions. I'm a producer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, mix & master engineer passionate about making every single project reach it's full potential. I've worked with artist across the globe helping them reach their vision in many different styles ranging from electronic music to folk music, I'm here to help YOU out

My name is Vladimir Kusijanović, I'm a music producer, songwriter, composer, multi-instrumentalist session musician, DJ, and mix & mastering engineer. I've been recording and writing music for over a decade now, working with big indie artists in South America (La Máquina Camaleón, El General Villamil) as well as composing Original music for big brand names around the world (Corona, David Morris)

My main goal every time I work with a client is to help their work reach its highest potential while also fulfilling the vision they have for it. I've studied and worked in many different genres and styles of music, all the way from ambient electronic music, folk, reggaeton, psych rock, baile funk, you name it.

I'm passionate about music in general. Listening and learning from different styles every day has given me a huge library of music from which draw inspiration and references, helping me mix different styles and come up with creative solutions that help the work become more original in the end.

I have a BA in Music Production and Sound Engineering from Point Blank Music School (UK) and also completed the Los Angeles Academy for Artists and Music Production program, where I was mentored by legendary music production duo Stargate (Katy Perry, Rihanna, Coldplay, Dominic Fike, etc)

Excellent, very fast and communicative. Dressed up a nice demo for me.

Interview with Vladimir Kusijanović

  1. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  2. A: a computer, a big speaker, an interface, an acoustic guitar and a microphone.

  3. Q: How would you describe your style?

  4. A: I'm pretty straightforward, when it comes to music I don't mind speaking my mind out and saying what I think about certain Ideas after we try them down and I don't mind my ideas being turned down. For me, while we are working, everything we do is in service of the music and I will always keep that in mind and share it with my collaborators. Besides that I love to have a relaxed vibe and an open communication, I like to work fast and not overthink stuff. For me when you overthink stuff you tend to fall into a fake perfectionism hole that prevents you from serving the music. My way of dealing with perfectionism is to always work to the best of my abilities, cause that is as perfect as I can get. I also believe that loving the craft and letting that love spread through out your work is what really makes the work great.

  5. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  6. A: boygenius, I just love their songs so much.

  7. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  8. A: Song comes first, Production second. Also, read the Rick Rubin book

  9. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  10. A: I would say I usually work in music that involves real instruments, but I also have a big background in ambient and electronic music, so I tend to swing back and forth between those two worlds.

  11. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  12. A: My Bass Playing

  13. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  14. A: Depends on what the song needs, I don't think I would bring the same thing to every single song. For me it's really important to really listen to the song and try to understand what the song needs, not what I want for the song necessarily. In most cases I would say I bring structure and arrangements, melodies, guitar parts or basslines that really nail the song down and make it work, but sometimes I don't need to do anything cause the song is done.

  15. Q: What's your typical work process?

  16. A: Usually I would start by asking for references and trying to understand what the vision for the song or music is. I would then take a listen to the material and try to identify what the flow is, what the most important elements are, what stands out and what doesn't and from then on its just a lot of throwing paint into the wall and see what sticks and what not. I typically try a lot of different ideas for different parts and then I like to move them around, mute them, etc. After that Initial mess I usually figure out what the path is and slowly start following it until everything starts falling into place. Once the main elements are there I typically would add finishing touches like transitions, etc. Then I would clean everything up a bit more and send it off to mix.

  17. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  18. A: My current studio setup is fairly simple, I have an Apollo Twin and a couple of Focals Alpha monitors. I have a wide range of guitars and basses available to me that I run through my Apollo and whenever I need to record something I usually use my Rode NT2A or a Shure SM57 through a Soyuz launcher box to my Apollo. I mostly work in Logic Pro X but I'm fluent in other DAW's as well

  19. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  20. A: There are lots of them in many different fields, but here is a list: Emile Haynie, Jeff Bhasker, Mark Ronson, Andrew Wyatt, Tyler Johnson, Nicolas Jaar, Justice, Daft Punk, Olafur Arnalds, Bonobo, Four Tet, Fred Again, Phoebe Bridgers, Aphex Twin, Tim Bernardes, Nils Frahm, Paul Mccartney, and a looooot more

  21. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  22. A: I would say most commonly, I work on full productions, from the writing all the way to the final recording. People call me to beef up demos and play guitar and bass in their records.
