Interview with ΙΧΘΥΣ Prod

  1. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  2. A: I work from a professional home studio built for remote production. My gear includes a Topping E2x2 interface, Adam Audio D3V monitors, Sennheiser HD 490 Pro and Beyerdynamic DT-770 Pro headphones, and an Audio Technica AT2020 mic. I produce in Ableton Live 12 and Reaper, using top-quality virtual instruments like Keyscape, Omnisphere, Trilian, Arturia V Collection, and Serum. For mixing and effects, I use trusted plugins from FabFilter, Waves, Slate Digital, Plugin Alliance, Izotope, and more. My setup is fast, reliable, and ready to deliver pro sound from anywhere.

  3. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  4. A: 1. My laptop with all my DAWs and plugins (of course). 2. A good pair of headphones, like my Sennheiser HD 490 Pro. 3. A good and durable mic like the Lewitt Pure Tube for recording ideas or vocals. 4. A mini MIDI controller. 5. Solar power, because no electricity means no music! (Yes, I know that last one’s cheating, but creativity needs power!)

  5. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  6. A: One project that really stands out for me was a Drift Phonk production I did for a client looking for an energetic, hard-hitting beat in the style of underground Russian car culture. It was my first time working in that genre, so I dove deep into the sonic textures, structure, and attitude that define Drift Phonk. I studied the saturation techniques, the cowbell-driven rhythm patterns, the distorted 808s, and the gritty mix aesthetic that gives the genre its raw power. Then, I took that foundation and gave it a modern, cinematic twist. The result was a unique, adrenaline-pumping track that hit exactly the vibe the client was looking for. He left me a review that simply said: “Excellent quality, got as I expected!” — short and to the point, but it meant a lot. This project reminded me of the importance of adaptability and curiosity as a producer. Even when I’m outside my comfort zone, I give everything to understand the artist’s vision and deliver something that feels authentic and high quality. That’s why I love this work. Every track is a new challenge, a new world to explore.

  7. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  8. A: Right now, I’m producing tracks for independent pop and urban artists across Latin America, the US, and Europe. I’m also building my own production brand and catalogue for sync licensing and content creators. My focus is on helping artists shape a distinctive sound that’s both commercially competitive and emotionally resonant.

  9. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  10. A: Yes, I’ve connected with a few talented collaborators on SoundBetter. I’m happy to recommend vocalists, instrumentalists, or mastering engineers depending on the project. If I’m not the right fit for something, I’ll make sure the artist finds someone who is.

  11. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  12. A: Digital, for the flexibility, speed, and power it gives to independent creators like me. I work with top-tier plugins and virtual instruments that give me access to world-class sounds and processing, even without a million-dollar studio. That said, I’m always chasing the warmth and imperfections of analog, and I’ve learned how to recreate that character in the digital world with great results.

  13. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  14. A: I promise to treat your music with the same care and dedication I give to my own. I’ll listen, ask the right questions, and give my best at every stage — from the first note to the final master. You’ll get professional quality, honest communication, and a partner who genuinely wants your music to succeed. My goal is not just to make something that sounds good, but something that feels true.

  15. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  16. A: Helping artists be heard. There’s something magical about taking a voice note or a rough demo and turning it into a song that sounds like it belongs on the radio or a playlist. Seeing the artist light up when they hear the final version — that’s the best part. I also love the endless creative possibilities. Every project is different. Every story is unique. And every sound has the potential to move someone.

  17. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  18. A: Q: “How much does it cost to produce a full song?” A: It depends on what you need: custom instrumental, vocal editing, mixing, mastering, or the full package. I offer flexible pricing based on the scope and your goals. I’m always transparent and focused on giving you more value than expected — whether it’s a single or a long-term project. Q: “Is this an original track or do you use pre-made beats?" A: Every production I deliver is 100% original and custom-made from scratch, tailored to your voice, message, and vibe. I don’t use templates or recycled instrumentals unless the project specifically calls for it. Your sound should be as unique as your story. Q: “What do I get with the final delivery? A: Here’s what I typically include, depending on the service: 1. Instrumental Production - Custom beat (WAV + MP3) - Optional stems of instruments - Tempo, key, and well-organized files - You receive full Master Rights (you own the final recording) - I retain composition/publishing rights unless we agree otherwise 2. Mixing - Final stereo mix (WAV + MP3) - Basic vocal editing (tuning, alignment, cleanup) - Revisions until you're happy - Pre-master file with proper headroom - Stems of the mix if needed 3. Mastering - Final master optimized for streaming (WAV + MP3) - LUFS balanced for Spotify, Apple Music, etc. - Alternate versions (clean, instrumental) on request - High-res or DDP if needed for distribution Q: “What rights will I have to the song?” A: You’ll have full rights to the master, which means you can release, monetize, and promote the final version however you want. I retain composition/publishing rights (as the producer/composer) unless we arrange something different in advance. Everything is clear and agreed upon upfront.

  19. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  20. A: That music production is just about making beats or mixing sounds. The truth is, it’s a deeply creative and emotional process. A good producer isn’t just a technician, we’re translators of feeling. We help artists express what words alone can’t. There’s also a misconception that professional quality can be rushed. Quality takes time, care, and listening. I don’t just “finish songs” — I help artists shape their sound and identity.

  21. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  22. A: I usually ask: 1. What do you want the listener to feel when they hear your song? 2. Do you have references or artists you’d like to sound close to? 3. Do you already have lyrics or a melody, or should we start from scratch? 4. What’s your timeline and final goal for this release? These questions help me understand their vision, creative context, and how I can serve the song in the best possible way.

  23. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  24. A: Look for someone who listens to you, not just your demo. A great producer isn’t just a technician, they’re a creative partner who understands your vision, helps refine it, and knows how to make it resonate. Bring clear references, be open to ideas, and trust the process. Communication is key, and chemistry matters more than price. You’re not just hiring skills, you’re hiring intention and alignment. Find someone whose work moves you, and whose mindset fits your own.

  25. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  26. A: I’ve been producing music professionally for over 5 years. I started as a self-taught musician, working out of my bedroom with limited gear but unlimited curiosity. Over time, I built a remote studio and began working with independent artists across Latin America, the US, and Europe. I’ve produced full tracks, mixed and mastered songs, built beats from scratch, and helped shape artists' sonic identities. My path has been hands-on, collaborative, and deeply connected to helping others express their message with clarity and impact.

  27. Q: How would you describe your style?

  28. A: My style is modern, melodic, and emotionally-driven. I aim for a clean, spacious mix that lets the emotion speak without distractions. Whether it's a Reggaetón track, a Latin Pop ballad, or a Worship anthem, I focus on storytelling through sound. I love balancing organic textures and synthetic elements, blending grooves that move your body with harmonies that move your soul. I’d say my signature is clarity, depth, and a sense of movement that keeps the listener engaged from start to finish.

  29. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  30. A: I would love to work with Billie Eilish and FINNEAS. Their approach to music is deeply emotional, intimate, and sonically adventurous. They’ve proven that you don’t need massive productions to move the world, just honesty, atmosphere, and intention. FINNEAS, as a producer, has a gift for translating subtle feelings into bold sound design. I admire his use of silence, tension, and texture. Billie’s voice carries a haunting vulnerability that feels both fragile and powerful. Collaborating with them would be a dream, not just to create something beautiful, but to explore new emotional territories through sound. I believe my strengths in vocal production, emotional storytelling, and minimal-yet-impactful arrangements would blend perfectly with their creative language. Together, we could make something timeless and raw.

  31. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  32. A: Always start by asking, What is this song trying to say? Before you touch EQ or compression, listen to the emotion behind the performance. Then build your production around that feeling. Also: don’t underestimate silence. Space and dynamics are your best friends. A good drop or pause can say more than a hundred layers. Let the song breathe.

  33. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  34. A: I mostly work on Latin Urban (Reggaetón, Trap, R&B, Afrobeat), Latin Pop, and Worship/Christian Pop. These genres let me explore rhythm, melody, and emotional storytelling from different angles. That said, I’m also very comfortable in Anglo Pop, Synthwave, Dance and hybrid genres that blend digital textures with organic emotion. I enjoy working with artists who want to sound fresh, but also honest. I’m not afraid to blend genres or break rules when it serves the song.

  35. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  36. A: My strongest skill is turning raw creative ideas into finished, professional songs with emotional and commercial impact. I know how to listen deeply, filter what's essential, and guide an artist from idea to execution with clarity and purpose. On a technical level, I’m especially strong at vocal production and arrangement. I make sure the vocals feel expressive and natural while fitting perfectly into the mix. On the musical side, I have a sharp sense for harmony, dynamics, and sonic space, which allows me to create engaging, memorable productions that connect.

  37. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  38. A: I bring a sense of clarity, intention, and emotional depth. Beyond the technical side, my role is to help artists find their voice in a sea of noise. I listen not just to what they say, but what they mean. Then I translate that into sound. Musically, I bring a polished, contemporary sound that competes with the industry’s top productions. I’m particularly good at capturing groove, contrast, and atmosphere, making each track feel alive. I also bring strategic thinking: I understand trends, audience psychology, and how to make a song not only sound good, but stick with listeners.

  39. Q: What's your typical work process?

  40. A: My process always starts with connection. I take time to understand the artist’s vision, influences, story, and emotional intent. Whether they bring a rough voice memo or a full demo, I listen carefully and ask the right questions. From there, I start building the instrumental, often tailoring the arrangement to support the lyrics and vocal tone. Once the instrumental foundation is set, I move into vocal production: comping, editing, tuning, and alignment, always with a natural feel. Then I dive into mixing, focusing on clarity, punch, and vibe, followed by mastering to give the song that final polish and loudness it deserves. Throughout the whole process, I stay in close communication with the artist, offering revisions and feedback loops to make sure everything aligns with their vision and feels 100% right.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: I’m inspired by producers and engineers who combine innovation, emotion, and sonic excellence. Names like Jaycen Joshua, Finneas, Tainy, Jacob Collier, Jack Antonoff, Illangelo, Mike Dean, Chris Gehringer, and Josh Gudwin constantly raise the bar in different ways. Whether it’s the clarity of a mix, the boldness of an arrangement, or the emotional depth of a vocal, these creators remind me that great music is both science and soul. I study their work closely and aim to bring that same level of intention to every project I touch.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: I specialize in remote music production, working hand-in-hand with artists to craft full songs from scratch. From custom instrumental production and vocal editing to mixing and mastering, I help bring an artist's vision to life with radio-ready quality. Whether it’s a Latin urban track, pop anthem, or something experimental, I focus on creating emotionally powerful productions with commercial appeal.
