Interview with Edvard Vardanyan

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I'm especially proud of a recent funk and rock project I worked on, where I mixed and mastered the tracks. The challenge was blending the raw energy of rock with the groove of funk, and the final product captured both perfectly, with a dynamic and balanced sound.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I have my own studio in Armenia, where I’m currently working on mixing and mastering projects

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: I haven't worked with others on SoundBetter personally, but I’d recommend looking for providers whose work aligns with your vision and sound. It's important to find someone with a strong track record in your genre.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: I primarily use digital equipment for its precision, flexibility, and the ability to fine-tune every detail, while still achieving a high-quality, professional sound.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: My promise is to bring out the best in your music with precision, creativity, and a focus on your unique sound.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: I enjoy the creative process of shaping a song and making it sound polished and impactful

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: The biggest misconception is that mixing and mastering are quick fixes. In reality, they require careful attention to detail and an understanding of the song's overall vision to achieve the best sound.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: I ask clients about their vision, reference tracks, preferred sound, timeline, and any specific requirements for the final mix or master.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Make sure to choose a provider who listens to your needs and delivers a polished, balanced sound. A great mix can elevate your music, so look for someone who’s passionate about bringing out the best in every track.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: If I were on a desert island, I’d bring my APS Aeon monitors, Apollo Twin X, Teletronix LA2A, UAD 1176, and Maag EQ, without the SSL compressor

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I've been working in music production for 3 years, but I've been involved in the music industry for over 15 years as a musician, primarily playing electric guitar
