Interview with PAB EMSON
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Upon receiving the job, I listen to any provided references. I dedicate a full session to listening to the rough mix, followed by a second session during which I take notes. Then, I begin working to deliver the best possible results for the job I was hired for.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: People ask me a lot of Mastering and Edit/VocalTuning work. Mixing and Piano are the 2 other common requests I receive.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I received a call one day to Produce Mix and Master a full Club-Set of original music for a VIP Night-Club in South of France. I had 24 hours to do the whole thing, the show was a success, that project was intense but unforgettable.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I am lucky to be travelling between America and Europe regularly to work on projects with Artists and Creators. I have access to amazing studios facilities wherever I go to do my freelance work on the side which is a lifestyle I always wanted.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: I saw that Manny Marroquin is on the platform. I learned a lot from his mixes. If you can get a chance to have him mix your track, you have to take it!
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I grew up with Digital, I love the endless possibilities of Digital. I work with analog occasionally !
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: When I work on your music, I am fully involved to deliver the best work I can.

Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Mixing, Mastering, and Piano are not three different things: we move frequencies to make them sound awesome together.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: My 3 questions are most of the time the following (in this order hehe): What do you need me to do for you? Can you send me an Audio Reference? Can you send me a Rough Mix?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: When you're looking for help to realize your vision, don't hesitate to reach out. Music is a collaborative process. Ask your musician friends for advice, listen to other artists, and if there's an area where you need help to bring your vision to life, hire a professional. This professional could be a provider on Sound Better, like me.

A: Honestly in 2023: - MacBook Pro (M2) - UAD Interface - Focals Trio 6 - Nord Stage 4 - SM-7B
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I began playing the piano at 6 and later added singing, composing, and music production to my skill set. I started doing by myself the whole production chain from writing to mastering when I was 12 years old. That helped me to learn and grow during the years. Later on, I became the Artist Opener for KUNGS (#1 on the Charts in Europe) at the Monte-Carlo Sporting "Salle des Étoiles" during the Monte-Carlo Summer Festival (The Jacksons, Lady Gaga, Pharrell Williams etc.) Then, I went to Berklee College of Music when I was 18, and started working with TOP Industry people as soon as I got in.
