Real Analog Mixing and Mastering. Stand out with warm, clear and open mixes. Free feedback on mix provided. 30 years experience.

Welcome to Stand Out Mastering!

My name is Michiel Holtgreve a.k.a. Greyhawk: 30 years of experience in Mixing, Composing and Producing EDM (House, Techno and Progressive House music)

I've been composing, producing and mixing since the early 90's. I have released a countless amount of tracks on both vinyl and digital formats since then and I am extremely passionate when it comes to mixing, mastering and sound in general.
With more than 30 years of experience and a dedicated hybrid mixing and mastering studio set-up I am confident I can bring your sound to the next level. I prefer to work in the EDM (House, Techno, Progressive House) genres. I offer Mastering, STEM Mastering but if needed I can also Mix your track(s). Hit me up!

I work with a hybrid set-up which means that I start with real analog processing and I finish it off inside the box.

Interview with Greyhawk / Stand Out Mastering

  1. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  2. A: Both, but I couldn't do or work without analog equipment. I know, there are many plug-ins that will make your mix awesome but once you have processed the analog way you don't want to turn back. Yes, there are plug-ins that might reach the sound of the original hardware for let's say 80-90% but I want to go for 100% and that last 10% is where your mix will reach that stage of "standing out". No doubt about it.

  3. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  4. A: Working with sound. Sound is a passion for me. Making a client happy. Hearing back that he or she had a big smile on his or her face when listening to what I delivered to the customer.

  5. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  6. A: The biggest misconception about Mastering is that a mastering engineer will fix the mix. No, a true mastering engineer will make an already good mix stand out!

  7. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  8. A: I started as a producer in the early 90's. I have released a countless amount of tracks on both vinyl and digital formats.

  9. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  10. A: Analyzing by ear and feeling a track. It starts here. For me the foundation to start the process.

  11. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  12. A: I have a hybrid studio set-up. My studio is optimized for both mastering and mixing and production. For both mastering and mixing I use analog hardware. I finish ITB just for limiting and maybe for some final EQ corrections and imaging.

  13. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  14. A: Mixing and (STEM) Mastering.

  15. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  16. A: Mix by ears, in today's world where a lot happens ITB we tend to look at a screen while mixing. Best advice is to step away from this: close your eyes while mixing, you will hear and see the difference after!
