Do you need help to finish your song or production? Let me throw in the missing piece! I'm a professional sound and mixing engineer, and I write all kinds of music. I love to do guitar arrangements, sound ambiences, drum patterns, you name it! We get the best outcome when we can feed off of each other's ideas.
I play drums in a prog rock band Gardenhead, play acoustic blues in my Andy Rubio Project, and work with musicians, rappers and producers from many genres. I'm from Finland and I'm 35 years old. I've been working as a sound engineer at the Finnish National Opera house, in TV-productions, theatre and movies. Now my goal is to focus more in music and sound design. I would love to make great music together, so don't hesitate to contact me!

Interview with Antti Silkelä
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm doing sound design for a short film. I just wrote a Nine Inch Nails inspired industrial drum and bass song for it!
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: We both have the same goal. Make the best product possible. I'm willing to work for it hard, and make my clients satisfied with the outcome.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Without electricity on an island my macBook would die soon, so I would be happy with my Martin, and four packs of strings.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have worked as a sound engineer with opera and ballet shows, reality-TV, theatre and movies. All my free time has been filled with music. Writing songs, performing, producing and mixing. Now I feel confident enough to start to reach out to the world as a music producer.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: My main genre as a drummer is rock, as a guitarist blues and as a producer pop/hiphop.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I can piece together a song from parts that don't quite fit together yet by working on the transitions and the arch of the song, or adding a missing melody or rhythm.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: My history working with a huge range of genres gives me some out of the box ideas. Also as a drummer, I think a lot about counter rhythms to fill the voids. I'm into sad but hopeful melodies, so I like to try to make people smile and cry at the same time.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I can do basic work at my home studio, where I have all my guitars, Akai MPK249 MIDI keyboard and my trusted HS7's. Also there's all kinds of instruments like a kalimba and a glockenspiel laying around. I'm also working in a studio, where I can mix with Genelecs in the control room and record stuff in the live room.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Lately I've been really inspired by Robert Glasper's songwriting. My favourite producers are Trent Reznor and Bob Rock. Pink Floyd has been the most influential band for me since I was a teen.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I mix songs, i do guitar arrangements, I program beats and create ambiences and sound effects.
