After sound studies at 3IS in France and two internships in recording studios (Artistic Palace and RiffX Studios), I want to bring your music to life, and help you to concretise you projects. I can do everything your music needs, from the mix to the mastering. I will adapt your needs and budget to give you professionals results that you will be proud of!

Interview with Annabelle THIEBAUT

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I recorded percussions for a movie in a recording studio. For my studies, we also had to record, edit, mix, and master two EPs for some artists. My Ep won the award of the Best EP and I received the award of the best mix.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I am composing a little bit, and mixing a short film and it's really interesting because it gives me another point of view in sound !

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Grégoire Proust, who is a great engineer too !

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Both because I use watever I think can be usefull and good for the music

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: To do everything I can to give them the best results

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: Creativity ! And music, I love music really

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: What time do I need ... And it depends !

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: That everybody can do what we do. A lot of musicians try to mix their music, and I understand that It can be easier. But first, it's really important to have someone new, with "new ears" to mix you project and be more objective about it. And it's really a work to find the balance between separating the instruments but still being unified, glued and having the song that globally sounds good. It's really a philosophy

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: What are you influences and inspirations ? What emotions did you experienced when you were composing this music ? What is you budget ?

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Don't hesitate to comunicate with me, and tell me you expectations.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: 1176, LA2A, FAIRCHILD 660, But an SSL console would be really great haha

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I have just finished my sound studies at 3is (School in Paris), and two internships in recording studios in France.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: Very eclectic. All my life I have been listening to a lot of different styles of music, such as Pop, Rock, classical music, RnB, Folk, Disco, Funk, Metal... So I have a lot of different influences.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: Parcels, Jacob Collier, Steven Wilson, Vulfpeck ... It's hard to choose !!!

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Listening to a lot of music from the same style

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: Pop, Rock, RnB, I love every styles

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: attentive

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: To me the mosts important thing is emotions. I believe it's crucial to bear in mind, even during recording, mixing and mastering, the emotions that the artist wants to convey, and to be careful to preserve these emotions. My objective is to highlight these emotions and amplify them. The purpose is to have the most professionnal results, that meets the technical requirements, that are commercially viable and that could fit in the playlist that your influences are in.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: If we work together, the first things I will ask you are : What are you influences and inspirations ? What emotions did you experienced when you were composing this music ? If we need to record, I will find a recording studio that fits with your need and budget, and help you find musicians if you want instruements. For the Edit, mixing and mastering, I will provide you a first version for each step and send it to you. If you are not satisfied, I can do 2 additionnal versions with no extra cost.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: An analog consol Mackie (32 tracks), 2 Focal studio monitors, a macbook pro M1 with ProTools Studio, UAD plugins.

  42. A: Andrew Scheps, Tony Maserati, Al Schmitt
