Interview with AUDORE

  1. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  2. A: If you're looking for the highest standard orchestral/classical/trailer/soundtrack mix, I recommend checking out my homie Joel Dollie.

  3. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  4. A: I promise the sound that enhances the emotion and message of your music. I genuinely believe in mixing as art of technical-emotional blend.

  5. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  6. A: Ask me if I could make you an offer; like a trial mix free of charge. You have nothing to lose and a great opportunity to elevate your music long-term.

  7. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  8. A: I would like to work with people who are consistent. Why? Because consistency is linked with practice. Practice doesn't make perfect, but progress. I believe an artist needs a skilled engineer who understands their music and vision perfectly. To reach that highest possible level, BOTH the artist and engineer need to consistently give their best efforts, not just for a while but consistently.

  9. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  10. A: Production tip? I would say - to finish as many songs as possible, even if it doesn't work out as you wish in your head. The problem of people not beeing able to get out of the 8 bar loop is not an arrangement problem, but a LOOP problem. Eventually you will get to the level where your loops will be so good they can loop forever and never get boring, and that is what makes a song great, catchy and memorable. So to get to that level you need practice & to get practice, you need to finishyour tracks (: Amen.

  11. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  12. A: I began my journey as an Orchestral/Heavy Bass Music producer, receiving exceptional feedback on my beats and mixing techniques from big names like Alex Moukala and Dr. Ozi. I have been discovered by a studio in Luxemburg that makes beats in the style of Burna Boy, Childish Gambino and Kanye West. Recording my vocalist wife, along with clients who come to my studio has contributed to my reputation for handling various vocal styles. So currently, I mainly focus on drums-centered songs featuring vocals and rap.

  13. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  14. A: Finding spectral balance is definitely my strongest skill - BUT it's important to recognize that spectral balance is often subjective. The need to mix warm or bright, clean or gritty, and so on, all depends on which sound best conveys the emotion that the artist had in mind.

  15. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  16. A: I definitely strive to capture the right emotion in the song and utilize my mixing tools to enhance it. I typically listen to before-and-after versions of my mixes before delivering the final result to a client. I ask myself if it has "what it needs" to deliver the best not only in terms of mix translation but also emotionally, which makes me different from many engineers that I have seen.

  17. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  18. A: I have constructed a vocal booth to provide clients with a comfortable recording space at an affordable price. It performs exceptionally well, and I take great pride in it. (Pictures can be found on @audoreaudio Instagram). In addition to that, I primarily use Presonus Sceptre S8 and Genelec 8010AP for reference. I also enjoy working with Beyerdynamic DT900s for spatialization and low-end. Due to my sample company, @axonicaudio, I possess a variety of microphones for recording samples and instruments. I really enjoy constructing intricate mic setups to experiment with, in order to achieve the most optimal sound.
