Interview with kabrel
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: on a sample pack and i try to release it with the kingsway library
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: we've got all the time in the world, so if we have to spend 1 year on a song, we'll do it. No stress, when we make music, we have fun, so we don't need any pressure.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: "its so simpe", ok, but simple not mean easy.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: whats up?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: don't hesitate to tell me about your life, I want to know about the people I work with and their life plans (not necessarily in music but in general).
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: a big knife, a book with a pen, haxe, and a fishing rod.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: you can listen my music when its night and wet, or in room in winter, I really insist on the nocturnal aspect of my music.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: charlotte cardin, for me she has the best choice of production, the best mix, she has succeeded in creating a unique musical universe.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: it's not the choice of sound that's most important, but how you mix it. Don't hesitate to take a very simple, completely dry sound and modify it, with the right effects, you can make a complete sound with just a sine for exemple.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: soul, rnb, lofi
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: my preset choice and my song mixing
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: a strong identity, a certain aesthetic, warm, old-fashioned, analog, and a little dirty
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: frank dukes, frank ocean, balance cooper, luidji
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: they describe to me what they want, they tell me what they're saying in the sound and what they want to do with it.
