I have 20 years of experience across all facets of the music industry (label, studio, events, management), plus as an artist, dj, producer and engineer. I'm in LA to further my writing/production career while also looking to work with various creative teams and independent artists to help realize their projects 3-4 days/week.

I typically work with artists, managers or small music companies to help them get their administrative house in order. This can be anything from career and strategic planning to social media, bookkeeping to negotiating contracts.

  2. A: What problems would I be solving? Would I be doing tasks you can do but don't have time, or tasks you don't know how to do?

  3. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  4. A: Make sure you have *lots* of work that needs doing. People consistently overestimate this, and/or underestimate the time it will take me to do it.

  6. A: I graduated from Fanshawe College's Music Industry Arts program in 1998 and have been working at various music-related jobs ever since.

  8. A: It's all about the song.

  10. A: Pop, rock, electronic.

  11. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  12. A: I keep cool and relaxed when the pressure is on. One time, after months of incompetence with the bank of a record label I worked at, I was tearing the bank a new one by phone when the label owner walked in. He said afterward "wow - they must have been REALLY incompetent if Matthew's angry!"

Terms Of Service

I'm looking to work with Soundbetter clients 3-4 days/week, ideally in Central/Eastern LA. I book in a 3 hour minimum block but other than that I'm happy to work around your schedule.
