I worked with Omar for several years - he’s a super talented, professional and well rounded musician. I would highly recommend O as a collaborator for any artist looking for top lining, mixing, production and even studio time in the LA area!

Omar is my songwriter partner and takes part in almost all the music I have created over the past 5 years. He’s incredibly talented and versatile in many genres both as a lyricist and vocalist. We have various records out together which he wrote and is a vocalist on.

Interview with Omar Kadir

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: I've been working on growing my recording studios business. I have 5 recording studios open now in Los Angeles. We create studios with top of the line treatment and gear and are the most affordable in the area. We offer major label quality at an affordable rate for the independent artist.

  3. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  4. A: All I know is digital lol

  5. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  6. A: My promise is to keep my standard. If you listen to any of my music you will hear I have a standard. I don't release songs I think sound sub par. And I don't release songs that don't sound "pro". I promise if a song doesn't meet my expectations I will tell you this project just isn't working out for us. The art is more important to me than the money.

  7. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  8. A: I sleep when I want. I work where I want. I work with who I want. I get to be creative every day. Nothing better.

  9. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  10. A: Whats the style? Whats the topic?

  11. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  12. A: The smartest thing you could do is listen to recent music created by the person you want to potentially hire. If they sound great on multiple songs, you've most likely found your match.

  13. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  14. A: I've been doing music for about 20 years. My career started as a professional dancer. Mainly Popping and breakdancing styles. I was competing and battling around the country and teaching master classes as a 17 year old kid. I guess dancing somehow eventually guided my interests towards music. I started rapping first and had no one to sing my hooks so I taught myself to sing. I eventually started singing through entire songs and started promoting my music locally where I'm from in the Bay Area, California. My fanbase initially started growing on Facebook. When Vine came out, my friends and I were recording really cool dance videos to my music and most of our clips were going viral, which led to a much bigger fanbase on Vine and Instagram. Once I was more noticed I was able to link with managers that became my best friends, and we've just been working ever since.

  15. Q: How would you describe your style?

  16. A: I'd say my style is heavily R&B influenced with a middle eastern twang to it. My melodies are somewhat influenced by eastern sounds.

  17. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  18. A: Alive: Drake. I'd like to experience what a studio session with him is like as well as the super team he has working behind him. Dead: Michael Jackson. Watching his process would be amazing.

  19. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  20. A: I record in a well treated studio with a Neuman U87, going into a Neve 1073, going into a Tube-Tech CL 1B, going in an Apollo X6.

  21. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  22. A: Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, Lauryn Hill, Bone Thugs N Harmony, Tupac, Boys 2 Men, Drake, Tory Lanez.

  23. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  24. A: I’m the artist of a song called Catch Up that recently hit 10 million streams on Spotify. I’m proud of this song because it took patience. I slowly wrote this song over 7 months and it paid off!

  25. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  26. A: My beautiful wife Joey Djia and my good producer friend Gekko.

  27. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  28. A: I suggest writers to try and write to just a solo guitar or piano, and finish producing the rest of the musical layers after the lyrics are written. Instead of writing to beat, produce the beat around the writing.

  29. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  30. A: R&B, Hip Hop and Pop.

  31. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  32. A: Melodies.

  33. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  34. A: Unpredictable catchiness.

  35. Q: What's your typical work process?

  36. A: I always write melody first and lyrics after. In my opinion, melody is king and the most important part of a record.

  37. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  38. A: Writing and topline vocals.
