Joost is a versatile and creative session drummer with an eclectic approach. Be surprised by his unique way of adding the right flavour to your song.
With more than 10 years of touring and recording experience, Joost will add the right flavour to your track.
He is fascinated by different sounds and collected a lot of weird instruments to enrich your production in a unique way. People describe his drumming as: playful, fresh, tight, crunchy, deep and surprising.
With 'programmed drums', he offers to record the nicest drum-synths/sequencers for your song. Sometimes the song asks a combination of acoustic drums and synthesized drums. If you like to have that, you just pay half of the 'programmed drums' fee.

Joost recorded drums for all of the songs of a new LP that I've been working on. Beyond being an incredibly gifted and sensitive player and recording artist (drums are TIGHT and full of emotion; they're recorded with pristine clarity), he is also professional, kind and open to experimentation. Do yourself a favor: elevate your songs with rhythmic wizardry of this maestro !

Working with Joost has significantly elevated the rhythm section of my songs-in-progress: he plays with precision and soul. If you're looking to develop songs over drums that sing, Joost is your guy!

This is my second project with Joost. I've been so impressed by his playing that I've planned a few more sessions in the future. His playing is soulful and precise, and his recordings are pristine, crisp, and warm. If you're serious about taking your rhythm section to the next level, I recommend Joost Wesseling.

Joost truly blew me away with his creative approach and crisp-sounding drums. Not only did he record beautiful warm acoustic drums for me, but he also added extra electronic layers that truly brought my song to life.
Collaborating with Joost was incredibly smooth, and in no time, I had a number of tracks to work with. He is very friendly and helpful, making the entire process a joy.
His drums sound incredibly tight, and the compressed room sound he added really gives my song a lively character. - check_circleVerified
Joost recorded drums on a new song of mine, and I am very excited about the results: his playing is soulful and precise, and the drums sound amazing (both as individual pieces and as blended set)! In his correspondence, he is prompt, professional, and friendly. I look forward to working with him again on a new batch of songs in the coming months and strongly recommend his services to anyone out there who is looking to spark up their songs with some beautifully performed/recorded drums!
Interview with Joost Wesseling
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I record from a beautiful studio in The Netherlands. A place with a live-room specially built and acoustically treated for the best possible drum sound. All the mics go through a Studer console for the juiciest flavours on the transients. For every recording session I choose a special mic setup that suits the song at its best. The room-mics will get good attention as well, so you'll always have the possibility to make the drumsound even more 'alive'. Next to this acoustic drum-setup. I like to work with a bunch of different drum-synths/sequencers for productions that need a little more electronic sounding elements. These wonderful machines also had a big influence on my playing as a drummer.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Whatever feels good!
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I studied music on the conservatory in Rotterdam. Since then I had gigs and studio-sessions with a big part of the Dutch indie-pop scene. I have the honour to do this already for more than 15 years.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: So many! Here are a few examples: Blake Mills, Aaron Sterling, Bon Iver, Thom Yorke.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Most of the time I do remote drum recordings for bands/producers and artists from my own studio.
