Session Guitarist

Nebraska on SoundBetter

Versatile Acoustic & Electric studio guitarist - credits include Shania Twain and Alanis Morissette. Fingerstyle, Classical, Acoustic Rhythm, Rock, Blues, Folk, Americana and Country.

I'm a musician, guitarist and producer from the United Kingdom. After studying music at university, I have worked for 18 years as a Creative Director in major record labels and in artist development at management companies, working with some notable artists, songwriters and producers on their creative output and development, and along the way I've been able to play studio guitar (and produce occasionally) for some of them too, as well as work in the studio alongside some other incredible and high profile award-winning producers.

I record remote guitar for your productions in my professional studio, be it acoustic rhythm, folk or country fingerstyle, classical, electric rhythm and lead in blues, country or rock - as well as anything you want that's weird and wonderful be it deep tremelo, trashy spaced out vibes or haunting ebow.

In particular I play fingerstyle acoustic and classical to a very high level.

Recent credits include tracks on Shania Twain's latest album, Alanis Morissette's and Jeremy Loops.

  3. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  4. A: After studying music, I have worked in the music industry for 18 years firstly as a Creative Director at Sony Music, then in artist development looking after the careers of some notable artists, songwriters and producers. Along the way I've had the fortune to work in the studio with some brilliant producers and learned a lot of the craft of recording and subsequently I have recorded with some great artists on their music too, primarily guitar but also occasionally production, mixing and other instruments.

  5. Q: How would you describe your style?

  6. A: Authentic.

  7. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  8. A: Folk and Americana mainly.

  9. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  10. A: A vibe, nothing too clinical. I like my guitar playing to sound real and authentic.

  11. Q: What's your typical work process?

  12. A: I will recieve a track from the client, preferably stems, or as a Logic or Pro Tools session and after discussing the requirements and references with them to get the vibe. I'll then put down some initial takes for feedback on sound. Once agreed I'll play and comp multiple parts and send as audio stems in the sample rate etc that they need for the project.

  13. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  14. A: I've just finished producing the new Wandering Hearts album, including playing guitars and hammond organ - which will be released on Chrysalis Records in 2024.

  15. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  16. A: Both, I think analog still has a warmth and vibe for the right style of music. However, digital plugins are getting closer all the time, especially UADs range of amp models

  17. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  18. A: Remote sessions
