Whether it’s catchy pop or crushing metal, I’m right at home behind the mix! An artist’s identity and musicality matter far more to me than the way we get to the chorus.
As an SAE Alumni, I spent many years working as a house engineer in professional French recording studios.
This background gives me a clear vision of how music should sound, as well as a strong grasp of the challenges specific to each genre.
Hard-hitting kicks? Massive 808s? A wall of guitars? I’ve got you covered. 😉
These days, I focus mainly on mixing and mastering, collaborating with producers from all over the world and discovering new music every day — which truly feels like a blessing.

Interview with Flavien Dugard
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Like Andy Wallace mixing Dua Lipa.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I come from Rock and Metal background but these days it's mostly Pop and Hip Hop, which I have a lot of fun mixing ! I am not interested in a specific type of music, just artists that have an identity and musicality.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I am a perfectionnist.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Clarity, punch and depth.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I like to listen to the rough mix to understand the feel of the song, where the producers want to go... What are the emotions ?
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I spent a lot of time taking care of my listening environment : mesures, acoustic panels, room tuning with DSP... I think that is the most important element of any studio, because if you can't properly hear every details, what's the point ? Then I use a powerful Mac computer that can give me all the processing we need for tracks and plugins. I also own the Slate VSX modelling headphone which allows me to work anywhere !
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Mixing engineers that excel in any genres, like Andrew Scheps who can mixes Adele then Green Day. At the end of the day, all you need is good music !
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: These days, mainly mixing ! I work with a small amount of artists but they are so prolific that I am very busy ! They produce their music themselves andsend it to me to put the final touch :)
