Interview with Alex Farkas

  1. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  2. A: Analog for sound, digital for recall ability. Nothing beats the sound of analog gear, but digital plugins have definitely come a long way. I like to capture tracks with the best analog gear available, and then mix in the box. This way I can reap the benefits of both domains.

  3. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  4. A: I am determined to take what you envision for your songs and bring it to life, and will do everything I can to take it to that level and beyond.

  5. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  6. A: Tracking and mixing.

  7. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  8. A: Bring Me The Horizon because they're one of my favorite bands, and are so unpredictable in the direction they take each album. I love bands that like to experiment and get creative. They aren't bound by anyone's expectations and just do what inspires them in the moment... which is what I encourage all artists to do.

  9. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  10. A: Trust your ears and your understanding of the tools you use over any trick that you learn. There may be standard "go-to" moves that people make, but at the end of the day, doing something by default won't get you where you need to be, as your starting point is always different.

  11. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  12. A: All kinds of rock music from light to heavy.
