All music written and produced/coproduced by me. We worked with producer Sam Taylor at Palmyra Studios owned by Paul Middleton(Bonnie Raitt) On our last release I worked with Kayla Reeves from Trans Siberian Orchestra on a duet track called "Bones" which I wrote and produced. I have also produced and co-wrote other tracks recently with Kayla. I really enjoy the creative process and have a knack for putting things together and arranging.

Interview with Billy Beaumont

  1. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  2. A: I've worked as a session guitarist and vocalist and also as a writing partner and producer bringing a track to life from scratch i.e. drum programming/rhythm building, sonic textures, instrumentation etc. I’m not set up to do live drums, but I have resources to out source that if needed.

  3. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  4. A: My band Peace and the Chaos. I wrote and arranged and produced everything. I was the main guitarist and singer. In particular, the track "Bones" off of our last release. You can find it on our Spotify. I got to duet with Kayla Reeves of TSO fame. She's one of the best singers in the world. I also produced her on the track. She tapped me to work with her on her own stuff and that's when I realized I had that ability and really wanted to do it. Any other excuses or lack of confidence were invalidated.

  5. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  6. A: I've been busy being a hired gun guitar player lately. I'm working on some material of my own and getting more educated about certain recording processes and techniques. You never stop learning!

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Digital is great for the workflow. But analog. Nothing like that sound.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: To be open and honest and do my best to serve your vision. If I don't think I'm the guy for you, I will tell you and get you someone who can.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: I love music. I couldn't turn it off if I wanted to. I love the expression and the feeling of when you've created something out of thin air that didn't exist and now its coming back at you through speakers.

  13. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  14. A: That it's not time consuming, lol. Or that its glamorous sex-drugs-rocknroll, lol.

  15. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  16. A: What are you needing or looking for? From there let's just rap on music. I want to know you and your vibe so I can do my best for you.

  17. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  18. A: Communication is key! Tell me what you're looking for. Another song or track has a sound or vibe etc. that you're going for, send it! I can run the gamut with my own ideas or be as specific as you want if there is something particular that you want.

  19. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  20. A: My guitar, A Piano, 4-track, Mic, and water because its the desert

  21. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  22. A: I started playing professionally at 18. Bars and small clubs. Started writing songs with a former vocalist for Michael Schenker Group and Mike Slamer. Got plucked by a guy named David St. Romain who would end up doing well with the show Nashville Star when I was 19. We went all over the country. The rest was history. I played anywhere I could and thats all I did. I relocated to Louisiana and played all different kinds of genres with all different kinds of people. Some you may have heard of some not. I was in a huge party band out of New Orleans and we did a bunch of work for the NOLA sports teams. I got to be in a dream rock band with members of Austin, TX's Podunk. In between all of that I had been writing my own music. I finally put my own band together, Peace and the Chaos. We worked with Sam Taylor(King's X). Bill Ham(ZZ Top) was courting us, but then unfortunately he passed. I've played 150 plus live shows a year in some form or fashion for the last 20 years. Making noise is what I do!

  23. Q: How would you describe your style?

  24. A: I'm very soulful vibe oriented. Listen. Feel it. It will tell you where to go.

  25. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  26. A: Too many to name. I'll say Brenden O'brien though. He did so much stuff that inspired me as a kid before I even played music.

  27. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  28. A: Know how to listen and read the room. Sometimes being a good producer is knowing how to stay out of the way.

  29. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  30. A: My wheelhouse is rock and classic rock/blues. My band, Peace and the Chaos is a Rock Blues Grunge vibe. I've done a lot of different stuff, tho. From singer-songwriter vibes to more newer neo rnb chill hop vibes. I love it all!!!

  31. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  32. A: I have great musical instincts and a sense of serving the music for what it needs. I'm really good at helping somebody take an idea from scratch and finish it. I love putting all the pieces together.

  33. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  34. A: I'm a feel player. S-O-U-L all day no matter what genre. Whatever you play, mean it. That's what I'll bring to your music.

  35. Q: What's your typical work process?

  36. A: First and foremost lets talk about what you're looking for and wanting to accomplish. Communication is key. Another song has a sound or vibe you're looking for, send it! From there it boils down to the song or piece of music and serving that and the artists vision. From a just a simple guitar session to creating a full production demo from a simple work tape. Once I have good idea I'll start throwing paint at the canvas and then go from there until we have a finished product you're happy with.

  37. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  38. A: I have the ideal home demo set up. Imac 27 with a good amount of juice, Apollo Twin X with a variety of essential UA plugins, Waves plug-in suite, Output plug in-suite, and Studio One 5 PRO DAW. I've been friends with the Presonus guys for a while and its a very creative friendly DAW. I also have a variety of Native Instruments including keys, strings, etc with the A49 keyboard controller. I also have NI Maschine with a variety of kits for certain things. Depending on the nature of the project I have resources at full fledged studios as well as other musicians depending on what we are trying to accomplish.

  39. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  40. A: Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Tchad Blake, Brenden O'brien, Butch Vig, Radiohead, Prince, too many to name! I'm constantly being turned on to new stuff and people by friends.
