Black Alley Studio on SoundBetter

Our goal is to get modern sounding records without losing the natural vibe of the real performance. Modern music is facing a problem, as too many records sound too polished and perfect. That takes the emotion away from the music, and that is the last thing you want as an artist. Art is about emotion, and we want that to be clear in our productions.

Black Alley Studio is a recording studio based in Verona, Italy. Francesco Gambarini is the owner and main engineer/producer.
We can take care of each single part of an album production here, from recording to mastering. We can also help the artists with arrangements and performance when needed.
We can provide full orchestral arrangements for your songs, and of course we can do it with plugins (instead of hiring a full real orchestra) in order to reduce the costs. We can turn your basic strings arrangement into a huge "film score style" orchestra, or we can start from the very beginning and create something that fits your song.
We can also work on your instructions to record all the instruments you need for your tracks.

Interview with Black Alley Studio

  1. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  2. A: Never think "it's fine, i will fix it in the mix". Get things right at the source.

  3. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  4. A: Mainly Rock and Metal music, but i would love to work with some Indie artists

  5. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  6. A: My ability to understand if what I'm listening is effective or not.

  7. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  8. A: I try to make the song sound "alive" by bringing out all the textures and the colors of a real, strong performance. I really believe this is what gives music the emotional impact it needs.

  9. Q: What's your typical work process?

  10. A: I normally start recording the drums, then the guitars and in the end bass guitar, vocals and synths. I always try to achieve the best results when recording, with both performance and sound. This way I already have a solid starting point when i start mixing.

  11. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  12. A: I a have a two rooms studio, with a control room and a live room. The space is not huge but big enough to record anything I want. I have all the gear I need to achieve great results, it's actually a minimal setup but it's upgrading fast.

  13. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  14. A: I am very inspired by musicians and producers who can deliver something that sounds huge but very natural and emotional at the same time. Some great examples are bands like Gojira, Of Monsters and Men and Linkin Park.

  15. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  16. A: I do all the music production work from the recording to the mastering, also helping the artis with arrangements and performance when needed
