Q: What's your typical work process?
A: When I'm whipping up a melody, I'm all about tapping into the vibe and emotional vibes of the lyrics – it's like musical telepathy. And if I'm cooking something up for a client, I'm all ears for their sound references, like, how do they envision the groove, you know? Now, when it's time for the producing magic, it's kinda like a sibling to the melody process. I've got this treasure trove of samples, synths, and all sorts of sonic goodies. It's all about picking the right tools to paint the perfect sonic picture.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Right now, I've got my groove on crafting my fifth album, cheekily titled "Es lo que hay" (Yep, "That's all there is"). And when I'm not in the studio cooking up tunes, you'll catch me jamming with my crew "Los Imaginarios" on stages across the globe. Oh, and heads up – I'm not just about the music; I dabble in video production too!
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Since I could'n plug anything in an island, no need for a fancy setup – just me and my trusty guitar, and we're good to go. And hey, if things get really wild, I'm pretty sure I could whip up a marimba out of coconut shells on the spot! XD
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been soaking up the singer-songwriter scene for a solid three decades. Even though I call Mexico home, my music has sprouted wings and taken me on a global journey. I've rocked stages in all sorts of places – from the heart of Spain and the vibes of France, to the soul of Italy, the beats of Switzerland, and even the passionate lands of Argentina, Cuba, and the good ol' USA. And that's just scratching the surface of my musical map.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Rocking the indie artist vibe gives me this awesome freedom to dive headfirst into sound experiments of all sorts. I've got some legit know-how under my belt too – contemporary harmony and orchestration, you name it. And yeah, I'm all about slapping that knowledge right onto my craft. Down here in Latin America, there's this groovy style called "Trova" that's all about those soul-stirring acoustic vibes and lyrics that cut deep. While I'm fully fluent in English, my lyrical wizardry is in Spanish, my mother tongue. But hey, melody and music? They don't care about borders or languages – they're the universal language that connects us all.
