Caden Caskey

Rock/Metal Mixing, Mastering

Caden Caskey on SoundBetter

I have a background in heavy music and rock. I am one of two guitar players in the metal band, F R A C T U R E. I love making huge, punchy-sounding tracks while also keeping dynamics and musicality at the forefront of my work. If you love metal and hard rock, I am your guy.

I am a audio engineer based out of Los Angeles' ES Audio Studios. I will Mix/Master or help song-write. If local I can also Record. I work primarily in Logic and can do work remotely in a timely manner.

Would love to hear from you. Click the contact button above to get in touch.

Interview with Caden Caskey

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I am a songwriter and guitarist for the band F R A C T U R E. I helped produce the first full-length LP and now their most recent EP. I will be playing with them in live scenarios.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: Solo project music. Working on getting my band to play live.

  5. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  6. A: Digital almost 100%. I have found that I record like I am not going to mix and mix like I'm not going to master. This has led to very minimal plug-in use which has led to me finding the best of the best plug-ins for the sounds I want.

  7. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  8. A: How dedicated to the sound and song are you? Are you open to suggestions or do you want me to just be the person who does what you envision? Either way I'm happy to work with you I just like to know.

  9. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  10. A: be honest with me and tell me if you don't like something. Help me understand what you want. I am very open to starting from scratch if I didn't catch a vibe correctly.

  11. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  12. A: computer, interface, microphone, guitar, and headphones. I could make an album.

  13. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  14. A: I have been playing guitar for about 10 years and producing for about 2

  15. Q: How would you describe your style?

  16. A: Heavy, Hard Hitting, and Modern.

  17. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  18. A: I would love to work with the band Invent, Animate. They incorporate a lot of synth and ambient work into their very heavy and interesting take on metal-core.

  19. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  20. A: Listen to the song. Mix to the song. Don't mix looking at faders and EQ's the end product is what determines a good mix, not the Db or levels

  21. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  22. A: Metal and Hard Rock

  23. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  24. A: Songwriting and producing. I feel this helps me in recording and mixing scenarios as I can understand the vibe and actual sound the client wants.

  25. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  26. A: Energy, Taste, Punch, and a different perspective, I'm always looking to create something new and blend new elements together.

  27. Q: What's your typical work process?

  28. A: I love to make a connection with a client first to really hear their sound. I love to get to know their musical inspirations so I can really encapsulate myself into the sound they want to go for. I then will dive head first in order to get a raw and more natural reaction to their song.

  29. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  30. A: I have access to a home studio with Logic Pro. I also have access to a professional recording studio in which I can contract work out of.

  31. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  32. A: Lance Prenc, Buster Odeholm, and Adam "Nolly" Getgood

  33. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  34. A: Session Work and Songwriting mostly. As of now, I have been taking any job I can get.
