Let's bring out the best of your work! I like to work with you on a personal level, to get the best out of every production. My goal is to make something YOU are proud of. I love working on music and together we will elevate your song to the next level. Excited to work together!
I’m convinced a good song is a good song, no matter the genre. My goal is to make each production sound organic while at the same time being modern. Where I can, I like to embrace the imperfection, that is -in my eye- where the musicality comes out. All this of course, without sacrificing the technical shine of the production.
I’m currently based in Utrecht, the Netherlands, where I work on all kinds of projects, ranging from production and songwriting, mixing & engineering and composing for media.
Next to this I work as a producer/engineer in a studio in Amsterdam, and teach music production in Utrecht.

Interview with Dolf Honee
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Blanket of Lies was a very fun process for me, as I was involved from the complete beginning till the very end.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Al lot of different stuff, mainly producing and mixing.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: A lot of questions stem from the thought 'is this good enough', if you think what you made is absolutely the best in the world, then it doesn't matter what other people think.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: A misconception can be that you give me the assignment, we don't speak, and a few weeks later we have the end result. I always like to work with you, and work together on making a great end product.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Don't be afraid to be bold in your musical choices.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Laptop, Headphone, Mic, Guitar and Midi Keyboard (The standard setup ;))
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: During my studies business and consumer sciences I really found my passion for music production. Starting out in the electronic domain, but quickly developed a love for the acoustic domain as well. After finishing the studies I decided to fully dedicate my life to music production and everything that comes with it. I have been doing this for 8+ years now.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Somewhere in the middle of bedroom pop and electronic pop.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would love to learn from Billie Eilish and Finneas, see their workflow and be inspired by their authentic way of creating music
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Mainly pop music, but it varies widely between clients.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Making choices.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Even though I am focused on technical quality, my love for the organic and imperfections is what makes the productions unique.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Instead of starting very technical, I look for what the track wants to say, and what it needs, from there on I work on it like a piece of stone that has to be carved out into a beautiful piece of art.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: FINNEAS, Dominic Fike, Bon Iver, Fred Again
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Workflow is everything for me, and digital has many benefits here. Analog does have it's function though!
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: We will make something you're proud of!
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Working with people is the thing I love the most.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What is your vision, what is the context, what do you want out of this song?
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Listen with your ears, not with your screen ;)
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: At home I have a very specific setup for a fast workflow and everything in the box. Other times I go out to professional studios to make use of their recording rooms, outboard gear and monitors.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Most of the jobs I do are either producing a track, mixing a track or both.
