Maurice Soque Jr on SoundBetter

Saxophonist and Multi-Instrumentalist music producer with over 100k streams across Spotify and Apple Music. Maurice works closely with artists and songwriters to capture their vision and bring it to life.

Hey! My name is Maurice, I work as a recording engineer in Los Angeles and as a music producer and session saxophonist for anyone and everyone looking to bring more music into the world. I've been fortunate to work with incredible array of artists like Casey Baer, Jordan Ward, Rosa Linn, Sueco the Child, Paris Price, Smino, and Big Time Rush; and alongside heavy-hitting producers the likes of Sammy Soso, Mike Hector, and WondaGurl.

I'm offering my music production services as well as remote saxophone recording:

As a producer I specialize in working with songwriters to take a demo recording or production and take it across the finish line to a fully produced and actualized track.

As a saxophonist I offer both alto and tenor saxophone recordings. I can record full solos, adlibs, or arranged multitracked saxophone sections.

Interview with Maurice Soque Jr

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: The project I'm most proud of is an original musical I co-wrote and music produced/directed titled "Non-Player Character" by Brendan Bradley. In addition to co-writing and producing the music, I produced sound design elements for the staged production and performed live in the musical's premiere.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I work closely with a couple of up-and-coming artists in Los Angeles to produce music for their new records. I also help to produce and direct their live performances by creating playback stems and play in their bands.

  5. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  6. A: Templates and Pre-Production!! Like most engineers, I love nerding out over gear and tech, but the technical components of music production tend to get in the way of creativity. I've spent a lot of time researching and testing different types of templates for production, recording, mixing etc. to maximize my ability to be creative without worrying about tech.

  7. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  8. A: My clients come to me for instrumental track production for both original and cover songs. I also work as a session saxophonist and can remotely record saxophone for my clients.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: My 'promise' is my clients is to keep the client's vision as the centerpiece. As a musician and music producer, my number one objective is to create the song that you could only hear when imagining it in your head.

  11. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  12. A: As a music producer I work on mainly indie-pop and pop songs, but it can vary and cross genres into electronic, orchestral, and folk. As a saxophonist, I record on a lot of soul, funk, and blues records.
