Interview with Z.Will
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Just know what you want and how you want it. I know some artists have a hard time describing their idea but just take your time...I have patience.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My laptop, hard drive, midi board, headphones and an interface
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been doing music full-time for the past 14 years and professionally for 4
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is ME lol Once you hear my work, I hope you understand.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Really I'm over chasing placements since I've accomplished that side of my career for the most part. I'm now focusing on Elley her current situation which she is about to sign a major deal.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Strive to be different
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I'm usually working on pop records with my fellow teammate/songwriter Elley Duhey
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is my creativy; simple.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring an organic feel and fluid rhythm to tracks. I love swing melodies and out of the box drum and melody sequences so I tend to make artists come with a different approach once written to.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I don't have a set method of how I start work: I just login and go in.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My studio setup varies depending on if I'm in LA, Tx or ATL. I usually work on Fl studio and Logic pro x running through a Neve 1073 console with a ton of other outboard gear. I use various synths from Prophet 6, Jupiter and the Waldorf.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Any song or musician can inspire me. I have no idol; just an extreme passion for the craft.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I am a full-time professional music producer providing fully produced musical compositions to major and independent artists. I do anything from drum programming to post-production editing and mixing.
