Mitchell Moser

Mixing & Multi-Instrumentalist

Mitchell Moser on SoundBetter

Engineer and multi-instrumentalist with over ten years of studio and live experience. Mixing engineer, electric & acoustic guitarist

The Mesa began as an exercise and exploration of the songwriting process by Mitchell Moser. Having played in various bands facilitating primarily as a guitarist and band leader, music was a familiar medium. However, the idea of crafting songs from scratch had yet to be pursued and is the concept which sparked the project into being. From this initial idea, Mitchell began branching out to additional instruments and arranging songs simply to enjoy the process. Soon after assembling an initial collection of demos, he reached out to friends to share in a more collaborative creative process.
In a literal sense, The Mesa depicts an isolated, flat-topped elevation which is bounded from all sides by steep cliffs. This is an appropriate metaphor for the isolated space in which many of the initial ideas and creative process begin for Mitchell. Also in another very literal sense, the word “mesa” translates from Spanish into “table”. The creative process is brought into further iteration through collaboration with artists that Mitchell has had the pleasure of knowing. In this way, they are invited to have a seat at the table and share in the creative process around making music. The project revolves around inspirations from vintage americana and atmospheric psychedelia as well as the influence of modern electronic and experimental productions by the likes of Daniel Lanois.
