My experience is not humongous but I know my skills and a band, where I am an guitarist, recently released an EP with 7 song (6 of them I recorded, produced, mixed and mastered). I am also monitor sound engineer of one of the biggest czech bands.

I listen to almost everything from folk to metal, but I am most comfortable in pop music and rock music.

Interview with frohlisch

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: An EP of our band. I wrote some lyrics, put my music ideas in all songs. I also recorded, produced, mixed and mastered 6 out of 7 songs.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: We (as a band) just started to make new songs but it’s a long way to go since we just released an EP.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: I don’t know anyone but I might just don’t know it’s presence on this platform.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Digital. You can have more different compresors or EQs because it´s much cheaper and the difference is not huge. It is also portable which is important to me as well. But i admit that hardware have a little spark in it.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: My job is not finished untill you are happy.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: I do what I am best at and it’s never repetetive.

  13. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  14. A: That music is just a hobby… it has never been just a hobby for me, it is everything and I want it to be my job

  15. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  16. A: I want to know what music they like or inspire them and I want a reference track.

  17. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  18. A: Have a chat with everyone you consider hiring. Be opened but carefull and don’t be satisfied with acceptable (meh) result.

  19. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  20. A: Laptop, guitar, microphone, headphones, audio interface.

  21. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  22. A: I am 24, I have played in a band since I was 16. I started music production like 6 years ago and it has been my passion ever since. Now I am guitarist, music producer, song writter, sound engineer, monitor sound engineer (one of the biggest czech bands).

  23. Q: How would you describe your style?

  24. A: My style is to always make it sound good no matter what. I almost always use guitar in songs

  25. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  26. A: AJR - I would actualy learn a ton about music production because they are just next level (they do their songy by themselves)

  27. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  28. A: Never trust your eyes but always your ears.

  29. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  30. A: Pop, pop-rock, rock

  31. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  32. A: I know my gear, I know many kinds of tricks with audio and I always use my ears and my crirical insight on my work.

  33. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  34. A: I always try to be creative and I bring fresh, clean (or dirty), high quality sound to any kind of reconding and I bring everything to life.

  35. Q: What's your typical work process?

  36. A: I usualy get excited or inspired before I do the creative stuff, but it’s pretty easy because I love making music.

  37. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  38. A: My setup consist of desk, PC with DAW, studio monitors, studio headphones, guitars, piano, bass, hands and ears.

  39. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  40. A: Ian Kirkpatric, C.L. Alge, AJR, J. Valeriote, Twenty one pilots, Fox Stevenson, etc.
