Abbey Loren on SoundBetter

Experienced Songwriter, Multi-Instrumentalist and Producer of 15 years with over 10M streams. My passion is taking a song from any starting point, whether it’s a voice memo or a recorded demo, and turning it into a radio ready track with a sound truly unique to you. My goal is always for you to be over the moon with what we create together.

My name is Abbey Loren. I have been writing, arranging and producing music for over 15 years, and specialize in Pop and Folk music.

Recording: Multi-instrumentalist (piano, guitar, banjo, drums, bass and synth). I have been singing for 21 years, and I am proficient in harmonies, vocal stacks, vocal tuning, and processing.

Production: I have been working in Logic Pro x for 9 years, producing and arranging for 15+ years. I am skilled in quick track turnarounds, and being able to use sonic references to create a song that you will be proud of.

Songwriting/Arrangement: I have been writing music for over 15 years, and have a passion for taking song ideas and bringing them to life. I currently have three publishing deals and write sync-licensing music here in Nashville (placements include a Hyundai TV ad, a Target TV ad, an upcoming young adult Netflix series, an upcoming Universal film trailer, and more). For all of my production clients I help with the songwriting and arrangement in some capacity.

Important notes:
* I do not write lyrics/vocal melodies or record in person. You must find your own means of recording, to then send me stems.
* It is always helpful to send over reference tracks when contacting me, so I can have an immediate idea of what you're going for.

I can confidently promise you that you will love what we create together. Let's get started!

I've worked with a lot of talented producers and songwriters before, but Abbey is on another level. Not only is she incredibly talented, but she is an awesome person. Her communication is excellent, and she tries her best to take your ideas and turn them into everything you dreamed of and more. I feel really lucky to be working on a bunch of songs together! You won't regret selecting Abbey for your next project.

Abbey and I worked together on a song while I was just starting out on my artist journey and I learned so much from working with her. Abbey is kind and patient, but also knows how to give constructive criticism to help the artist try and hone in on the sound they're looking for. She was completely open-minded to the genre I wanted to work in even though she had no previous experience in it, and I will always be so thankful for that. U ROCK ABBEY!!

Hello this is Reece Young. Abbey and I wrote a lil tune together back before I had a ton going on. It ended up launching my career to another level. Forever grateful for that collaboration. She crushes.

As a producer and collaborator, Abbey is unmatched. She is professional, encouraging, and fun. She holds artistic vulnerability with kindness and understanding. I always felt encouraged as a vocalist and songwriter in her presence. Her work flow is clean and she returns demos and mixes in a timely manner. She is open to feedback on her work and strives to help you achieve YOUR desired sound while seamlessly pushing you toward the potential she also hears in your work. Her creative energy was an incredible asset to my project and I am so grateful for the hours we spent making art together.

Abbey has been so consistent in the quality of work she has provided for me. Every time I come to her with a song idea, she is always able to come up with lyrics that are far beyond anything I could have thought up of. That combined with her excellent and quick production leaves me never wanting to work with anyone else ever again. I could not recommend her enough!

I’m so grateful for meeting Abbey, she has helped me build up my repertoire of original music and has been patient, kind, and exceedingly helpful. Through her knowledge of recording software, as well as being a multi talented instrumentalist, she can help you create any piece of work. I’ve worked with a couple other engineers besides Abbey and really have not found as much success as I do when working with her. If you have any reservations, I promise you, don’t. Abby takes such care with making sure that the client is happy and comfortable; I highly recommend working with her.

Interview with Abbey Loren

  1. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  2. A: What inspired this song? What production elements are you hearing in your head? Are you hearing more organic or more electronic elements? If you had to pick a Spotify playlist this would fit in, which one would it be?

  3. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  4. A: I would love to work with Noah Kahan, because I am a fan of his songwriting but I feel like his instrumentation could be more explorative and innovative.

  5. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  6. A: I would say to never use a reference track and follow it blindly. That's how you end up with a song that sounds like everything else out there. I like to keep references in the back of my mind, but explore new sounds and textures to create something completely unique.

  7. Q: What's your typical work process?

  8. A: I like to start by having an in-depth conversation with the artist about their inspirations and influences and what sound they want to achieve with their project. Once we're on the same wavelength, I can start laying down the foundation and arrangement of the song. This usually looks like a full piano or guitar track and a scratch vocal, because I firmly believe if a song can't stand on it's own legs in that sense, it wasn't strong enough to begin with. After the foundation is there, is when I have fun with sonics and building out the track to be something the artist would be proud to put their name on.
