Earshot bassist. Guitarist, Writer, Singer, Engineer.. Full digital or analog set up. Digitizing of 2 inch and 1/2 inch recordings and masters.
I’ve been playing guitar since I was 10 years old and have been building a home studio in more recent history. I’m on here to offer my remote services to other musicians/writers that are working up some cool new projects, need that right guitar part for a song, or need their mix ironed out.
Currently I am the bassist for the Los Angeles based band Earshot. Aside from bass, I am also a contributing writer and add other tracks on occasion to official releases.

Interview with J. Novak
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Energy in a performance is the most important part of capturing a moment. In the digital era, you can alter a lot, but you can never add vibe, mojo.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: On the latest Aaron Fink record (former Breaking Benjamin guitarist) I was lucky enough to share the sonic landscape on a track with Alex Lifeson (Rush/Envy of None). He provided his tracks remotely, but it was awesome to be a part of that experience.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital has come so far in the past 10 or so years, but the perfect mix will always contain elements of both analog and digital. There are certain natural elements of analog that will always bring that special something to the table.
