After a couple back and forths, I decided to re-produce everything as this track wasn’t feeling as fresh as I thought it could base on my last stems.

Omid agreed to do everything from scratch and made me a fair price for opening a new project, I’m very satisfied.

    Thank you Omid!

Interview with Omid Ardalan

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I’m really proud of a passion project I’m working on right now. I’m producing a series of tracks for an upcoming album, acting as both a creative and production partner alongside a close collaborator. It’s shaping up to be one of my most innovative projects yet.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: Right now, I’m fully focused on production, working on several tracks for different artists. I’m in the final stages for most of them, and I’m confident these songs will be strong, impactful releases that really connect with listeners.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: Yes, I know a few producers and engineers on SoundBetter that I’ve had great experiences with. Before making a recommendation, I’d check in with them to confirm their current focus so it’s a perfect fit. I only refer people whose work I trust, and I’d be happy to connect you with one of my reliable collaborators.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: I like to work with a hybrid setup—using digital tools for speed, precision, and easy editing, but bringing in analog gear for character and warmth. Analog adds that subtle, organic touch that’s hard to replicate digitally, so I think the best results come from combining both worlds.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: My promise to every client is to give my full creative focus and honesty. Music isn’t just a job for me—it’s my passion—so every project gets my full heart and attention. That way, the music always comes out authentic and of the highest quality.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: What I love most about my job is getting completely lost in the creative process. There are moments when I enter a flow state, and hours pass without me noticing. Coming out of a session with a finished track that I’m proud of—it’s the best feeling, and it reminds me that this work is all about passion and intuition

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: The question I get most is whether I can deliver high-quality music that meets industry standards. I usually answer by pointing them to relevant examples of my work—my portfolio tends to speak for itself. Once they hear the tracks, most clients feel confident and ready to move forward

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: I think the biggest misconception is that it’s all about making money. For me, the real goal is creative success—making music that feels fresh, meaningful, and impactful. Of course, being financially sustainable is important, but what really drives me is the quality of the art and the experience of creating it.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: When I first talk to a client, I like to ask questions that help us get on the same creative page and clarify the project. I usually start with things like: what’s the emotional core or message you want the listener to feel, what music or artists inspire this track, and how do you plan to use it—radio, album, film, or live? Then I move on to logistics: what assets you already have, your timeline, and what you want me to focus on most, whether it’s arrangement, mixing, or sound design. These questions help make sure we’re aligned and the process goes smoothly.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: My advice would be to focus on finding a producer whose style really fits your vision and who you can collaborate with easily. Look at their past work to see if it matches what you want, and be open to their creative input—that’s usually where the magic happens. Most importantly, make sure the process feels enjoyable, because a good partnership should be fun as well as productive.

  21. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  22. A: I’ve been on a music journey since I was nine, starting out just exploring instruments and figuring out my sound. Professionally, I’ve been focused on music production and collaborating with artists for the past 25 years, turning that early curiosity into a career creating and shaping music across the genres I love.

  23. Q: How would you describe your style?

  24. A: I’d describe my style as a mix of classic and modern dance vibes. It’s high-energy, combining disco grooves, driving house beats, and pop appeal, with bold synths adding texture and catchy melodies

  25. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  26. A: I’d love to work with Bruno Mars or Dua Lipa. They both have an amazing feel for rhythm, from classic funk to modern disco, and I think combining my production style with their energy and taste could create something really fun, high-quality, and catchy that people everywhere would enjoy

  27. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  28. A: One tip I always follow is to find the ‘emotional core’ of a song right at the start. It could be a vocal melody, a guitar riff, or a synth hook—whatever hits the listener the most. Then I make sure everything else in the track, like the rhythm, arrangement, and textures, supports that core to really make it shine

  29. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  30. A: I work across a wide range of styles, from groove-oriented music like funk, disco, and pop-rock to electronic and atmospheric sounds like chill, lo-fi, and cinematic tracks. Being a producer and a guitar player helps me adapt to different genres, and my focus is always on making the music sound great while giving the artist the best possible service.

  31. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  32. A: I’d say my strongest skill is really understanding the artist’s vision. I can quickly get what they’re aiming for and help turn that idea into a finished track, while adding my own creative touch to make it even better. It’s all about bringing their concept to life in the best way possible.

  33. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  34. A: I bring creativity and a fresh perspective to every song. I like to add modern, unique touches and really shape the arrangement so it grabs the listener right away. My goal is always to make the track stand out and leave a lasting impression.

  35. Q: What's your typical work process?

  36. A: I like to keep my process flexible and really centered on the artist. Usually, I either take a melody idea and turn it into a full, ready-to-release track, or I help develop the vocal melody from scratch for a concept. In both cases, my goal is to bring out the full potential of the song. Lyrics usually come from a collaborator, so I can focus on the music and production side.

  37. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  38. A: I get inspired by a mix of old-school grooves and modern dance energy. I love the timeless funk and disco vibes from artists like Bruno Mars, Purple Disco Machine, Kool & The Gang, Chic, and Dabeull. At the same time, I’m influenced by modern producers shaping the dance scene today—people like Calvin Harris, Dua Lipa, Oliver Heldens, RÜFÜS DU SOL, Blond:ish, Ofenbach, and Sigala. I try to blend all of that to make music that’s catchy, groovy, and still hits commercially

  39. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  40. A: I mostly work as a music producer, teaming up with both artists and brands. I like keeping things creative and pushing the limits a bit, trying to make tracks that feel fresh but still work commercially. For me, it’s all about turning ideas into something that really connects with people.

  41. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  42. A: If I were stuck on a desert island, I’d go for gear that keeps me creative and comfortable. I’d take a classical guitar for composing, a laptop with my DAW and full sample library, a high-capacity solar charger to keep it running, good noise-canceling headphones for mixing and focus, and a hammock or comfort setup—because staying relaxed is just as important as making music.

  43. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  44. A: I try to give the best production I can, so I work with a setup that’s versatile and high-quality. My studio has a mix of professional gear and my favorite tools for creativity—like the RME Fireface 802 interface, Abbey Road REDD 47 and UA Solo 610 preamps, and my Rode K2 tube mic. I also have Adam A7X speakers and Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro headphones for accurate monitoring. On the creative side, I’ve got a range of guitars and a ukulele, from a Gibson Les Paul to a Taylor acoustic and a Valencia ukulele. Plus, I have a huge plugin library for mixing and production, so I can really shape the sound to what the artist needs
