Alex Wons on SoundBetter

I'm an audio production student at MTSU looking to grow my portfolio in exchange for cheap rates. My rates are cheap not because I lack skill or confidence but because I lack a reputation. I will do as many revisions as necessary to deliver a result you’re happy with. I offer 50% off to any student!

I’m currently a student at MTSU double majoring in audio production and commercial songwriting. I started off as a musician and have released 3 solo written albums. I now find myself working on mixing, engineering, sound design, and game audio most of the time. I’m interning at Station West on top of my studio classes at school.

I offer mixing, session comping/editing, vocal tuning, or a combination of those three. I mix in Pro Tools and Logic and can tune vocals with Melodyne or Auto Tune. I mostly work with pop, folk, country, and singer/songwriter but I’m willing to give anything a try. My prices are negotiable, reach out to me so we can work out a deal you can afford.

I will decline any project that has lyrics or messages that are racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, xenophobic, etc. - I do not stand for hate.

Alex was the recording and mix engineer on my acoustic song “i got a fake nose ring, now mom says i’m punk rock.” He was a pleasure to work with and an adamant engineer who wants the music for his clients to be FOR and BY them. He is a phenomenal communicator, great with receiving input and criticism then applying, and all in all wants what’s is best for the artist and their finished product. If you want a careful engineer who cares about the technical side just as equally as the creative, Alex Wons is your guy, and you will not be disappointed.

Interview with Alex Wons

  1. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  2. A: I always do clip gaining before I ever put a compressor on something. I feel like clip gaining gives me a little more control over the dynamic range. I also think it sounds more natural than a compressor when done right.

  3. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  4. A: Austin Stanley is a great mentor and very talented. He was the one who got me to sign up for SoundBetter.

  5. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  6. A: My promise is to continue working on your project until I deliver a result you are truly happy with. I will do as many revisions for as long as it takes to get this done!
