Carl Schilde

Mixing Engineer & Producer

Carl Schilde on SoundBetter

Classic mixes for your next classic album.

I’ve come a long way from making my first demos on 4-track tape in the 90s to co-producing a big band album for German cult-star Rocko Schamoni, recorded on the very same Neve console used for John Lennon’s Double Fantasy. In the meantime, I officially became a “Master of Sound”  - insert reverb - by studying at the Berlin University of the Arts under professor Robert Henke, the creator of Ableton Live.

Being an artist myself, I know the emotional complexities of finishing a project all too well, so your music will always have my full attention and bespoke care. I’m here to set your creative vision into the right light & focus. Having said that, my inner compass naturally strives for that classic album sound. If you need an aggressive chart radio mix, I’m probably not your guy.

Over the years, my productions have amassed millions of streams and were featured in the New York Times & Vogue Italia. Aside from albums, I’ve also had the pleasure to work on several films and audio-visual projects by Sennheiser and Volkswagen.

I work from my own studio in Toronto, Canada, where I have a hybrid digital/analog setup with a high-end monitoring system and classy A/D converters. In today’s world we all need the flexibility of digital, but I still love using analog outboard gear and even print to 8-track 1/4 tape when the mood strikes. Some things are just magic.
