Polished high end mixes! Get that expensive sound specialising in alternative rock, post hardcore and metalcore. Let’s talk
I specialise in alternative rock, post hardcore, metalcore and shoe gaze type recordings. Will pretty much take anything on board.
I am an audio engineer which includes producing, tracking and mixing only. I offer very well hand crafted audio which I take pride in getting the best sourced tracks before even attempting to mix. If I feel the vocals need tuning, guitars need reamping etc this will done before mixing begins in the mix preparation stage. I have an analog/digital hybrid set up that was designed and set up to my taste. I don’t just listen to the music I also listen to textures and warmth. To me this is just as important. If you want that expensive sound

Interview with YT Audio Productions
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Alt rock EP, and post hardcore single.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Nah, new around here
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both. Hybrid is the where it’s at. If I had to choose 1 and I had the time and money. Analog. Being a world class studio with all that gear is just more fun and sounds nicer
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: My promise is that it’ll be the best to my ability’s. If I done my best work. That’s all I can offer and promise
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The end result and a happy enthusiastic client.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: All different
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That we can polish a turd. If it’s been tracked badly and edited badly or not at all. Chances are the mix won’t turn out great.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Do you have a reference mix of the songs? What bands do you like the sound of that’s similar to your style ?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Organise and name your files correctly, condense down and group any tracks that you can, if you can group 20 backing vocals into 1 or 2 stereo file that helps. Record Di tracks and send everything dry have limited to no processing on the multi tracks so I can have creative freedom. And do my best work.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Computer. Interface. Microphone, guitar speakers
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I’ve been doing this since my guitar teacher gave me a computer program called “magix” to record guitars and practice soloing over rhythms. This changed everything it was obviously a recording program that was back in 2006. 2006-2013 I didn’t know really what I was doing just recording sounds. In 2014 I learnt to mix
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I just like making things sound big, so I guess I have the “big sound” style
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Counterparts, fantastic band it’s everything I want to mix at this present time.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don’t worry what the meters say, if it sounds good it probably is good. Ears over eyes and you’ll be ok.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Alternative rock and metalcore
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Guitar tones and big drums
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Life..
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: For mixing. I will first listen to the song, listen to the raw tracks individually and see what’s needed to get the results I’m after, if the guitars need reamping I’ll generally start there. As long as an DI is provided. Then I’ll move on to drums or vocals I’ll also generally run that through some hardware gear to get that polished sound right away. Pretty much mix prep the song until I feel it’s ready to be mixed.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Okay, so I’ve got pro tools, antelope audio converter, 500 series pres/eqs/tape emulators. Few compressors. Analog summing mixer. Abit of a hybrid analog/digital set up.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Will Putney, Shane Edwards and Jordan Valeriote
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Producing, tracking and Mixing
