Wow!!This is the first time working with Inga, and what a truly fantastic experience it was. Inga is a superb lyric writer. She has a wonderful way of adding space to a track with her writing but still keeping you intrigued enough to wonder what is coming next !! she serves the listener and not the writer,Inga is an amazing writer!!! Interview with Inga Frost
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Being able to inspire, and influence people through music.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I write for independent artist and producers, and I am currently in the process of pitching songs to a few major artist.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise to provide a quality, professional service to my clients.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Can you come up with the concept? Yes
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That I make instrumentals/beats, or that I offer a production service.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: My goal is 100% customer satisfaction, so I based my questions around what the client has in mind for the song. Most clients leave it up to my creative discretion, and at that point I just ask "about you" questions so I can tailor the song to their brand.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Behind every hit song is a songwriter, so you are taking a big step into investing into your music career by hiring a songwriter.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My laptop, my mic, my interface, my speakers, and my midi keyboard.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been writing music for over 10 years. I always saw it as a hobby until about 6 years ago when I decided I wanted to be a songwriter as a career. I started writing songs for independent artist and producers, and building my personal catalog.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I would say my style is very versatile. As a creator I ldon't like to box myself in. One day I might right a more urban song, and some times i'm in the mood to write a country song. I change my voice, my accents and everything.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would love to work with SZA, because her music comes from an honest place. She's able to put things in a song that the average person thinks but wouldn't dare to say, and make it OK and accepting.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don't over think things, the simpler the better.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually work on Pop, and R&B musics.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I have been told melodies, and cadences are very catchy and stick with people.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring imagery, clever punchlines, and metaphors to keep the listener interested.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I usually listen to the song and freestyle sing to see what lyrics, and melodies I come up with. Typically the chorus comes out right away, and I build around it.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I record in Pro tools 12. I use a AKG P420 Microphone to record my vocals, and I run that through my Focusrite Scarlett 18i8. I have various Waves and FabFilter plugins, so I can provide a rough mix for my clients. Last but not least I use my KRK Rockit 5's to listen back, and solidify the sound I am looking for.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm inspired by new artist, songwriters, and producers. I love hearing fresh sounds. Recently SZA, Halsey, and Starrah have been a few singer/songwriters who I have been inspired by.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I mainly topline write full songs, or hooks for my clients.
