I am vibrant and creative session keys player who uses my jazz background to add intrigue to every track. I feature on many projects in my local Montreal music scene, including indie pop songs, surf rock ragers, post-punk tunes, and features on the scores of a short film as well as an immersive video game both set to come out next year.
I am a professional keys and synth player ready to contribute to your track in whatever way you might need.
I love to sit back and let my ears guide me - I work hard to make sure that my playing uniquely enhances each song without drawing too much attention and taking away from other elements of the song.
My bread and butter is collaboration, whether that be session playing on other artists' tracks, performing nightly on 'hired gun' tours, teaching piano to my students, or simply jamming with fellow musicians.
I also released a commercial synth pack with lots of sounds I meticulously programmed (can be found on the 'Constellation Synths' YouTube channel).
When it comes down to it, I get up every day excited and inspired to add a little extra bit of joy to this world through the power of music - let's work together and keep that wonderful process going!

Interview with Jacob Tarasofsky
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Be open to having your session players come in with completely new ideas you might not have expected! Music born out of true collaboration always sounds better
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Jazz-influenced, colourful, a little ambient, restrained
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Jazz piano is my home, but I absolutely love bring jazz elements into R&B, Funk, Neo-Soul, Indie Pop and really any other genre!
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I listen listen listen listen. There's no ego involved here, my only goal is to find exactly how I can best elevate the track with my instrument. Once I identify what that is, I then do that and nothing more so as not to overpower any other elements of the song.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I usually come up with a few ideas and pass them on to the client for feedback before recording in the studio - I am here to fully serve your needs so your notes are taken extremely seriously!
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have all the tools I need to record from home, including a high quality stage piano (Korg SV2) for all piano, Rhodes, and Wurlitzer sounds, and then a variety of hardware synths to cover that realm, including a Korg Arp Odyssey, Korg Wavestate, Korg Opsix, and a Behringer VC340 Vocoder
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Playing session piano on other artists' songs!
