Latin Grammy Nominated Arranger, Dove Award Nominated Producer. I will mix your song or project!
My name is Juan Velasquez. I'm a mixing engineer and producer with a decade of experience. My credits include Miel San Marcos, Marcos Witt, Evan Craft, Ingrid Rosario and many others in the CCM, rock and pop genre, but I'm open to any genre. I'm highly attentive to detail and quality. As a Latin Grammy/Dove Award nominated producer I know what makes a great song and mix. Which is why I also provide editing of any instrument or vocals to make the mix come together nicely. I will include a mastered version but you'll still have the option to send the mix to the mastering house of your choice. My goal is to bring your vision to life and I won't be satisfied until you are.
I'd love to hear about your project. Click the 'Contact' button above to get in touch.
Interview with Johnskeys
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I'm proud to have been a part of an album called "Pentecostes" by Miel San Marcos. It was recorded live at Madison Square Garden. I don't know, it's kind of cool to have had your music played inside that iconic venue.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: These 67 questions for my soundbetter profile. Lets get back to making records!
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Nowadays, digital. Convenience and minimal sonic differences.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise to love you and cherish you till death do us part.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love meeting new artists or producers and learn something about their process that I could implement into mine.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: How much do you charge per song? That will depend on your needs.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That I am a mixologist.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What are you looking to get out of this collaboration? What do you love about your project as it stands currently? What if anything would you like to change about it?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Message me and lets have a conversation about your project. I will not the right fit for everybody. I will still love to get to know more about you as an artist/producer.

A: Dropped out of college, left my hometown to pursue music. I have been doing this for a decade now.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I don't think of myself as having a style. I want to be as open as possible to all songs and genres.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would love to work with Great Good Fine Ok. I find their music very interesting and inspiring.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don't sweat the small stuff. Make your song as emotionally charged as possible. Let me worry about the small stuff to make sure all of that emotion comes through.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I work mostly on Christian praise and worship music. Which are typically very large sessions. Pop music is a direction I'm moving more towards.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: The devil is in the details. My strongest skill is attention to detail. I let artists and producers worry about the vision and overall direction. My job is to remove any distractions to let the song shine in the brightest light possible.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring a decade of experience working with artists and producers. My goal is to bring their vision to fruition, not mine. I have a wide variety of tools under my belt to help accomplish that vision as efficiently as possible.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: As soon as I get a project I go through and organize all the files in a blank session. This is where I will fix any distractions, remove artifacts, time align or vocal tune anything necessary.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I mix in my home studio. Currently mixing in the box. Monitoring through the Focal Shape Twins. I use Waves, Plugin Alliance, Universal Audio, and Slate Digital plug-ins.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I am inspired by Marc Daniel Nelson, Michael Brauer, Andrew Scheps, Cody Fry, Tony Anderson, among others.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I am an experienced producer, and the most common work I do for clients is mixing. However, before I even start mixing, artists often ask me to enhance the production. This could involve vocal tuning, drum editing, or adding final polishing production elements.
