I mix and master indie, acoustic and singer-songwriter music with a focus on vocal clarity, emotional depth and modern sonic balance. My goal is to create mixes that feel intimate and present while remaining polished, coherent and ready for release.
I’m Alessio, a freelance mixing engineer working mainly with indie pop, indie rock and acoustic music.
My approach centers on shaping vocal presence, depth, and arrangement clarity so the song feels emotionally direct and well-defined. I focus on creating a sense of space and movement that supports the performance, keeping the mix cohesive and engaging across different listening environments.
Each project includes two revision rounds once the direction is defined. Before starting, I align with the artist on references and artistic intent to ensure a focused and efficient workflow.
If you’re looking for mixes that feel modern, emotional, and sonically refined while staying true to the song, feel free to get in touch.

Interview with Alessio Benedetti
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Hybrid analog/digital workflow focused on efficiency, clarity, and translation across systems.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What are your goals with this music, and who are your main references or inspirations?
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: AI-separated stems? I don’t work with them due to potential artifacts. Original multitrack recordings are always preferred. What should I send? Individual WAV/AIFF tracks and a rough mix as reference. Avoid limiting, normalization, or unnecessary processing. How should I export? All tracks should start from the same point. Keep file names clear and export mono tracks as mono files. Plugins active? Only leave essential processing. If unsure, send both processed and unprocessed versions clearly labeled. Rough mix? Very important. It helps me understand your vision and direction. How to send files? Use organized folders with clear naming. Include BPM and key. WeTransfer, Drive, or Dropbox are ideal. Revisions? Minor revisions are included for small mix adjustments. Major changes require a new order.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That a mix or mastering can fix a poorly recorded production.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I start by balancing low-end and core elements, then build the mix around vocal and instrumental relationships.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Marc Daniel Nelson.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Hybrid analog/digital setup designed for efficient and high-quality results.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Make sure the quality of your recordings are good and that you are happy with your productions because no mix can make bad recordings great and no mastering can turn a bad mix into a masterpiece.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Consistency and attention to detail.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Clarity, balance, and preservation of the original emotional intent.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: Clear communication throughout the process, confidentiality of all material, and full respect of client ownership over delivered work.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Focus on recording quality and arrangement. A good mix starts before the mixing stage.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: Trained at MAT Academy and through professional masterclasses. Currently working as a freelance mixing and mastering engineer under Forte Sound, serving international clients online.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I deal with multiple musical genres such as indie pop, indie rock, and acoustic music.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Natural, dynamic mixing focused on preserving the emotional and sonic identity of the song.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Mixing, mastering, and audio editing for independent artists and singer-songwriters.
