I have a passion for creating full productions from scratch and bringing songs to life. With over fifteen years of experience as a multi-instrumentalist, I can give your song just what it needs. I play piano, guitar, bass, drums, cello, trumpet, and various other string instruments. I can also program electronic elements to enhance a production.
There's something magical about taking a rough voice memo and transforming it into a polished, finished song. As a music producer, I love being a part of that process and bringing songs to life. I'd love to do the same for your music and collaborate with you along the way.
If you decide to work with me, we'll have a chat about your vision for the song. We'll discuss the artists and sounds that inspire you, and what you want to convey through your music. From there, I'll get to work and keep you updated on my progress every step of the way. Once I have a rough mix, I'll send it to you for feedback to ensure we're on the same page. Then, I'll work on the final mix until it's perfect and send it over to you.
My ultimate goal is to make your song come to life exactly as you envision it. I take pride in creating music that has an impact on the listener, and I'm excited to do that with your project. If you think I'm the right fit for your music, don't hesitate to reach out by clicking the "contact" button above. I'm looking forward to hearing from you soon!

Interview with Joe Richardson
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My laptop with all my samples and virtual instruments, my acoustic guitar, a midi controller, my tele, and my headphones.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started out producing music when I was in a band in high school. We didn't have any money to hire anyone so I learned to produce and mix our music. Currently I work full time at a church where a huge part of my job is producing, recording, and mixing our original music. In my free time I love to work with other people on their projects. I have been producing and mixing for over 15 years.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I would describe my style as polished and epic. I love when a song goes from small and intimate and then explodes into a larger than life sound that stirs your emotions. I love contrast in a song and my productions reflect that.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: My biggest tip would be to focus on getting the right sounds during the recording phase. Great sounds will beat great mixing skill any day of the week. Plus if you start with great sounds, after the mix you can end up with incredible sounds.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Recently, I have mostly worked on worship music. Right now the worship genre is a blend of rock, pop, and cinematic textures. The music has the instrumentation of a rock band, but incorporates lots of electronic elements as well as ambient textures. I have also done a lot of work on rock and folk music.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is probably my deep understanding of music as a whole. I have been blessed to have gotten a formal music education but I have also learned tons through experiences being in bands of many different genres. Through this I have gained a deep and working understanding of music. I am very skilled in music theory and I know how to apply it. This leads to flexibility and endless possibilities in my productions.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring a unique perspective to a song because I have been immersed deeply into different genres as a multi-instrumentalist. I have a deep understanding of rock, pop, worship, folk/americana, and jazz. With this experience I can stay flexible in my productions and can bring unique elements that help a song stand out.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Typically I will get a rough acoustic demo from a client and then I will have a conversation about what they are envisioning. Together, we will make any tweaks that might be necessary to accomplish the end goal for the song. After that I get to work on building out instrumentation for the song. Throughout the process I stay in communication to make sure we are still on the same page with the direction of the song. When we feel good about the song I get to work on the final mix.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: In my home studio I use an Apollo Twin to record onto my Macbook Pro. I have a slew of different instruments, guitar pedals, and plugins to make fun sounds. I love having access to everything I need so I can work quickly and keep the inspiration rolling. I also have access to a drum recording setup where I play a 5 piece Yamaha Recording Custom drum kit.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Seems cliche to say but I am always inspired listening to Rick Rubin, Max Martin, and Jack Antonoff. Also Finneas. I love the way Finneas uses unconventional methods to get amazing sounds. It's inspiring to be reminded that it's ultimately not about the gear or plugins you use, it's about your ear and your desire to chase after beauty.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Most often I take rough acoustic demos from my clients and I build full productions around them. I love to see a song go from its simplest form all the way to a beautiful song ready for release.
