Interview with Maggro
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I am working on a couple of songs for my musical project "Maggro". All of them have vocals and environmental ambient sounds, which is something unique that I like to do in my songs in order to improve the song's vibe. One of them is an emotional Electronic song with a sad vibe and Violins on the drop. Another one is a melodic Moombahton/Reggaeton song, with forest/jungle soundscapes and an Indian Flute sound on the drop. The last one is a dark Alternative/Electronic song, with a spooky vibe, Horror/Haunted house soundscapes, and a creepy music box on the drop.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital. It is fun to play with analog gear, and trying it is always a very unique experience. I also feel like working with analog gear improved my sound design skills and made me understand better how music production used to be in the past. However music production is always evolving, and right now it is just easier to work with digital gear, and there are way more possibilities compared to Analog Gear, which is a bit limited.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Assuming that the Island has energy, I would take my Laptop, Studio Speakers, Audio Interface, and 2 Studio Microphones. I would spend most of the time recording environmental sounds, so I could use them in my songs.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Melodic, Emotional,
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Parallel Compression. It consists of combining an uncompressed signal with a very compressed one. It works amazingly on vocals and instruments and is very helpful in making them sound more upfront without being too loud.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I'm very creative and versatile. I can create and mix any style of music in my own unique way.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Emotion, Creativity, Melodies.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Martin Garrix, TheFatRat, Lindsey Stirling, Sub Urban, Neoni, Bring Me the Horizon, Jim Yosef
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Mixing and Mastering Services. Usually, the client sends the stems and some reference songs. Then, during the next couple of days, I work on the mix, sending it for feedback a couple of times in order to achieve the best result.
