My name is Michael and I run Crucible Sound, a bespoke studio operating out of the Gold Coast Australia specialising in heavy music. I pride myself on creating unique, aggressive and loud products for my clients.
I have many years experience and am deeply passionate about music production and audio engineering, focused on metal and hardcore.

Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Hybrid, combine the saturation and distortion from analog with the workflow and ease of Digital.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: That I will work incredibly hard to make sure I can deliver the very best version of your vision.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The creative process and the feeling of satisfaction once a song and idea comes together.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Dont get caught up in techniques. Always focus on what serves the song best.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Metalcore, Hardcore, Metal
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Interpersonal and communication skills. I love speaking with artists to understand what they want and what they are after.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring an intrinsic understanding of hooks and structure, to cut fat out of songs and make them lean and catchy regardless of how heavy or abrasive they may be. As I am a life long fan of heavy music I can understand where the artist is coming from and what they are trying to achieve.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: An initial meeting and pre-production session to finalise the music and make it as best as it can be. Work out and agree upon the vision and steps to get there, such as what tools/instruments will be best to use to suit the project, and recording style. Record each individual instrument, then mix and master. Any final revisions and then deliver the final masters for the client to release.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Control room and live room at a commercial studio - SSL4000G Console, large selection of mics and various outboard analog gear. Focal monitors Large Home studio setup - various outboard analog gear, all my guitar amps, cabs and pedals. (all high gain favourites) Focal Monitors.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Any band that is unique and unwavering in their vision. Inspired greatly by producers who have a deep understanding of the music they work with and their own sound. Will Putney & Graphic Nature Audio, Machine, Colin Richardson, Andy Sneap, George Lever, Buster Odeholm.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Producing and songwriting, recording, mixing and mastering.

Mix and Mastering comes with two revisions, but I will do additional revisions until you are happy. Turnaround time is 3-5 business days after delivery of files.
