I have had the opportunity to being able to listen to a lot of his work and I’m surprised how he creates atmospheres that makes you feel that thrill, drama and epicness that’s something that I really like

I’m always looking for original instrumentals instead of using the same loops that has been heard over and over so I decided to work with Omar in my next record to get that orchestral touch in my upcoming production

He is also someone that you can rely on to have great communication on what sound do you want to achieve

Interview with Omar Ryft

  1. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  2. A: For sure, if I'm not the best fit for your project and I know the one who could be I will send you with them

  3. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  4. A: Making music is something that makes me feel complete, sometimes life doesn't go as planned but I know when I get into the studio it really feels like I'm in another whole world where I can make magic happens with my music and I would love to share that with the world

  5. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  6. A: A macbook Pro as I'm a Logic Pro User, a midi controller with at least 49 keys, pads(8 or 12 it's ok) and faders(at least 4), an audio interface,a good pair of headphones and hard drive with a lot of capacity to store all my projects

  7. Q: How would you describe your style?

  8. A: This is a tough one, as someone who has a lot of influences like Metal, Hard Rock, Electronic and Orchestral stuff I strive to blend them all together in one style that I would like to call Dark Hybrid Cinematic Music

  9. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  10. A: Nowadays you can have a whole studio in a little room using just a computer loaded with a bunch of plug-ins and a few peripherals like a midi controller or an audio interface and get amazing result without a huge investment even though it's the one behind the equipment that makes the magic happen

  11. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  12. A: I would love to work with artists that aren't afraid to explore outside of the conventional sound of today's mainstream music industry, people that loves film scores & video game/anime soundtracks music

  13. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  14. A: Always use reference tracks, this helps a lot to set your song on the right track even if it's choosing instrumentation, structure, production decisions(Lo-Fi, modern production, experimental, vintage, clean and crisp, etc.), mixing and mastering, having your ideas clear from the start will make your workflow go smoothly compared to starting a song from scratch

  15. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  16. A: Mostly I do Dark Cinematic music for sync anything from underscores to big trailers

  17. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  18. A: I would say my strongest skill is creativity, always looking for new ways to make music either with sound design, music composition(scales, soundscapes, instrumentation, etc) or mixing
