Interview with Kurt Croner
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Hmm, tough question! I'd probably bring my favourite microphone, my trusty pair of headphones, my go-to synthesizer, my laptop with all my software, and a portable MIDI controller. Gotta make sure I can still create music even on a desert island!
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: If I had to choose, I'd love to work with Jon Bellion. I'm a big fan of their unique style, talent, and innovative approach to music. I think our collaboration would result in something truly special.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: The key is nailing your sounds during production, not fixing them in post. Spend time getting your synths, drum samples, and guitar tones perfect from the start. Don't fall for the "fix it in post" trap, it'll just make mixing harder. Get those sounds right up front, and your mix will rock!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I've worked on all sorts of music genres, from pop to rock to hip-hop to electronic and more. I'm pretty versatile and can adapt to different styles depending on what my clients need.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring a keen ear for detail, a good understanding of different music genres, and a passion for creating captivating sounds. I love making a song stand out and resonate with listeners by adding my own unique touch.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I usually start with pre-production, where I work on developing the vibe and structure of the song. Then, I move on to tracking, recording all the different instruments like drums, guitar, and vocals. Once all the tracking is done, I dive into post-production, making sure everything fits just right in the track and adding those final touches like vocal effects and tuning. After that, I bounce all the stems as separate files and start the mixing magic. Once the mix is on point, it's time for mastering to give the track that professional polish!
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
