Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

A: The Osumbana EP on South Yard is one of the projects I am most proud of because it helped define my identity as a Drum & Bass artist and gained recognition within the scene. I composed, produced and mixed all five tracks, handling the sound design and creative direction. It was featured on VISION Radio, STUDIO and DnB Portal, with support from Noisia, The Upbeats, Gydra, Neonlight and Sub Zero.

Q: What are you working on at the moment?

A: I’m currently producing new Drum & Bass material as Jey Vinand while working on several client projects involving full production, co-production, track finishing, mixing and mastering. I’m also refining my hybrid analogue and digital workflow at VINAND PRODS.

Q: Analog or digital and why?

Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

A: I promise clear communication, honest feedback and detailed work tailored to each artist’s vision. Every project receives the same care and commitment, whether I am developing the full production or applying the final professional polish.

Q: What do you like most about your job?

A: I love turning an idea or unfinished demo into a record that feels complete. The most rewarding part is helping an artist overcome creative or technical obstacles and hearing the moment when their original vision finally reaches its full potential.

Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A: “Can you make my track sound as powerful and professional as this reference without losing its identity?” Yes. I use references to understand the desired balance, energy and finish, while preserving the musical ideas and character that make the artist distinctive.

Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

A: The biggest misconception is that mastering can fix every problem in a track. A strong master begins with good sound selection, arrangement and mixing, so I always identify and solve problems at their source whenever possible.

Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

A: I ask for their demo, reference tracks, goals, intended audience or labels, required service, deadline and final deliverables. I also ask which elements they want to preserve and where they feel the track needs the most help.

Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A: Choose someone who genuinely understands your genre, communicates clearly and can explain what your track needs. Listen to relevant work, read verified reviews and provide an honest brief with references and goals. The best results come from technical ability, shared vision and good communication.

Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

A: A MacBook Pro, RME Fireface UCX II, a pair of ADAM A7V monitors, SSL Fusion and Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro headphones. That would give me everything needed to produce, mix and master professionally, assuming the island has electricity :)

Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

A: I have been producing music for more than 10 years. I began working across urban and electronic music before developing my Drum & Bass project, Jey Vinand, releasing through international labels and receiving support from established artists and platforms. In 2020, I founded VINAND PRODS to help other artists through production, mixing and mastering.

Q: How would you describe your style?

A: Detailed, melodic and powerful. My style combines distinctive sound design, controlled low end and impactful drums with arrangements that create emotion while retaining the energy needed for the dancefloor.

Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

A: I would love to work with Camo & Krooked. Their ability to combine musicality, experimentation, detailed sound design and exceptional engineering makes their work some of the most sophisticated and distinctive in Drum & Bass.

Q: Can you share one music production tip?

A: Compare your track with a professional reference at matched loudness. This reveals problems in frequency balance, dynamics, low-end weight and arrangement far more accurately than comparing tracks at different volumes.

Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

A: I primarily work on Drum & Bass, including melodic, liquid, dancefloor, deep, rollers, techstep and neurofunk. I also mix and master electronic music across genres such as EDM, dubstep, house and techno.

Q: What's your strongest skill?

A: My strongest skill is identifying exactly what a track needs to become a finished, competitive record. Because I work across production, sound design, arrangement, mixing and mastering, I can solve problems at their source instead of only treating the final result.

Q: What do you bring to a song?

A: I bring creative direction, detailed sound design, clarity, weight and movement. I strengthen the arrangement and sonic impact while preserving the artist’s identity, giving the track the professional finish it needs to compete in clubs, on streaming platforms and with labels.

Q: What's your typical work process?

A: I begin by reviewing the demo, references and the artist’s goals to identify exactly what the track needs. Once we agree on the direction, scope and deliverables, I complete the production or engineering work, share progress when appropriate, collect focused feedback and prepare the final files.

Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

A: I work in a professionally treated studio with ADAM A7V monitors, RME Fireface UCX II conversion, SSL Fusion and SSL The Bus+ analogue processing, and SSL UC1 control. My hybrid workflow combines Ableton Live 12 and premium digital tools with analogue colour, depth and cohesion.

Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

A: I’m inspired by Noisia, Camo & Krooked, Mefjus, The Upbeats and Sub Focus. Each combines a strong musical identity with exceptional sound design and engineering, while continuing to push Drum & Bass forward in different ways.

Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

A: I most often help Drum & Bass artists turn ideas, demos and unfinished tracks into release-ready records through full production, co-production, confidential ghost production and track finishing. I also provide professional mixing and mastering for Drum & Bass and electronic music across genres.
