Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

A: That mixing is about making everything sound “better” individually. It isn’t. A great mix is about making everything work together. Sometimes that means making one instrument smaller, darker or quieter so another can shine. The magic isn’t in perfecting every sound—it’s in creating the right relationships between them.

Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

A: My journey began as a pianist and musician, which naturally led me into composition, music production and audio engineering. I went on to earn a Master’s degree in Music Technology from CalArts, USA, where I deepened my understanding of sound, recording and production. Over the years, my work has evolved toward mixing and mastering, bringing together my musical background and technical training to help artists achieve polished, emotionally engaging records.

Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

A: One project I’m especially proud of is my original release “Distant Forest.” I worked across the entire creative process—as composer, producer, sound designer, mixing engineer and mastering engineer. I designed and layered the atmospheric textures and sonic elements that created the track’s sense of space and environment, then shaped them through the mix to work naturally with the music. Taking the project from the first musical idea through sound design, production, mixing and final master made it especially meaningful to me.

Q: What are you working on at the moment?

A: At the moment, I’m working on a mix of mixing and mastering projects alongside my own music production and composition work. I’m also developing new instrumental and cinematic material, which keeps me connected to the artist’s side of the process. Moving between creating music and engineering it constantly sharpens the way I listen.

Q: What do you like most about your job?

A: I love the moment when a track suddenly **comes alive**—when the vocal finds its place, the instruments open up, and the emotion becomes unmistakable. Taking an artist’s vision and helping it translate into something a listener can truly feel is the most rewarding part of what I do.

Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A: The question I hear most is, “Can you make my track sound more professional without changing what I love about it?” My answer is absolutely—that’s the goal. I enhance clarity, depth, balance and impact while preserving the character and emotion of the original production. Your music should still sound like you—just at its best.

Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

A: I start with three questions: What do you want the listener to feel? What are your reference tracks? And what do you love—or want to change—about your current mix? I’ll also ask about the intended release format, timeline and any specific creative priorities. These answers help me understand not just how the track should sound, but where the artist wants it to go.

Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A: Choose an engineer who **understands your music, not just your genre**. Listen to their work, but also pay attention to how well they communicate and understand your vision. Share reference tracks and be clear about how you want the song to feel. The best results come when the artist and engineer are working toward the same emotional destination.

Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

A: A MacBook Pro with Logic Pro, my Focusrite Scarlett 2i2, a great pair of studio headphones, a 61-key MIDI keyboard, and a microphone. That gives me everything I need to compose, record, produce and mix. If there’s electricity on the island, I’m all set!

Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

A: I’d love to work with A.R. Rahman because his productions live at the intersection of worlds I find fascinating—acoustic and electronic, Indian and global, intimate and cinematic. His music can move from a whisper to an enormous soundscape without losing its emotional centre. I’d love the challenge of mixing within that complexity while preserving the space, detail and humanity that make the music connect.

Q: What's your typical work process?

A: I begin by understanding the artist’s vision, listening to the track, and discussing reference songs and the desired sound. I then prepare and mix the session, focusing on balance, clarity, depth, dynamics and emotion. After sharing the first mix, I incorporate client feedback through revisions before delivering the final polished, release-ready mix or master.

Q: What's your strongest skill?

A: My strongest skill is knowing what a song needs—and what it doesn’t. I combine a musician’s ear with an engineer’s precision, bringing clarity, depth and emotional impact to a track without over-processing or losing its character. I believe the best mix enhances the music without getting in its way.

Q: What do you bring to a song?

A: I bring a combination of musical instinct and technical precision. As a pianist, composer and engineer, I listen beyond frequencies and levels—I listen for emotion, dynamics, space and the story within the music. My goal is to reveal what makes the song special and give it clarity, depth and impact while preserving the artist’s vision. Your music. Your identity. Elevated.

Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

A: I’m inspired by producers and engineers such as George Martin, Quincy Jones, Rick Rubin, Nigel Godrich and Andrew Scheps for their ability to combine technical excellence with musical instinct. I’m especially drawn to professionals who serve the song first—using production and mixing to enhance emotion, space and character rather than letting technique overshadow the music.

Q: Analog or digital and why?

A: Digital—with an analog heart. My workflow is primarily in-the-box, using the precision, flexibility and recall of modern digital tools, while incorporating analog-style EQ, compression, saturation and tape emulation when the music calls for warmth and character. I don’t choose analog or digital for the label—I choose whatever best serves the song. Precision where it matters, character where it counts.

Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

A: I’ll never make your music sound like everyone else. I’ll make it sound more like you. I’ll listen to your vision, protect what makes your song unique, and bring out its clarity, depth and emotion. Your music. Your identity. Elevated.

Q: How would you describe your style?

A: My style is musical, spacious and emotionally driven. I aim for clarity and depth without making a mix feel overly processed or clinical. I like vocals and key elements to feel present, the low end controlled, and the mix to have space to breathe. Above all, I want the production to sound polished while still feeling human.

Q: Can you share one music production tip?

A: Don’t fill every space. Silence and contrast are part of the arrangement. Leaving room around an important vocal, instrument or musical moment can create more emotion and impact than adding another layer. Often, the most powerful production decision is knowing what to leave out.

Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

A: I work across pop, pop-rock, hip hop, indie, singer-songwriter, acoustic, electronic, ambient, instrumental and cinematic music. I especially enjoy projects where emotion, atmosphere and musical detail matter, and I’m equally comfortable working with vocal-driven songs, layered productions and composer-led music.

Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

A: My studio is built around Logic Pro and Pro Tools, with a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 audio interface, Pro studio monitors, and an acoustically treated listening environment. I also work with Ableton Live and Cubase Pro when required. My setup combines accurate monitoring with professional mixing and mastering tools to deliver polished, balanced and release-ready sound.

Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

A: I primarily mix and master singles, songs, independent releases, instrumental and composer-led projects, as well as music for films and visual media. I work with artists, singers, composers and producers to create polished, balanced and release-ready tracks while preserving the character and emotion of the original production.
