Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I worked with Gwyneth Paltrow on her film ‘Country Strong’ and all of her appearances in ‘Glee’ We were a team helping with vocal arrangements/song keys,and we had the best time and I got to work with Gwyneth Paltrow every day!!
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: A kids show

A: Not yet, I’m sure I will tho
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both. I love creating my own sounds, yea that’s the best fun!
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: To do my absolute best and work hard to deliver everything they have asked for.

A: Every.single.thing. I adore what I do. I’m so lucky and grateful.

A: We earn a lot!

A: How long would you like this to be? What sounds do you envisage? Am I free to use my initiative? What is the deadline! Let’s talk about the fee…
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Hire me immediately you won’t be disappointed!
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Phone, mic, clarinet, recorder, snare. I could create the other sounds myself.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: 25+ years
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Eclectic
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Christian Henson, Pink, Alison Moyet. Christian as he’s got the skills I aspire to have, Pink and Alison as they’re amazing vocalists in different ways!
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Wait a couple of days to mix.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I have spent a lot of time recently on kids music for audiobooks and a stage show. But I’m at my most creative when I work on something really emotive.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I’m a brilliant pianist!
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring life, emotion, depth, diversity. I think of any form of creative process as a journey.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I start with a template usually. I find that the quickest way with my brain going at 100 miles an hour! I have 3 favourites that I fire up and off I go. I work quickly and intensely and like to wait 2 days to mix and let the music breath in my head!
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My DAW of choice is Logic Pro X with lots of spitfire audio plug ins, I love omnisphere for creating my own sounds, and anything orchestral tools is a fave too. I use Rokit speakers and avantone cube mixing headphones which are a must in my opinion.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I love Philip Glass, Debussy, Chopin, Penderecki as I rough guide to my Spotify plays! But also I love Hailstorm, Finneus, and any new artist that flips a song into their own interpretation. That works for me. Production wise, I admire Christian Henson and Paul Thompson of Spitfire audio, Marc Giovanni, Streaky, Nathan Larsden, Guy Mitchelmore.
