Sean Lees

Mixing Engineer

Sean Lees on SoundBetter

Make your music shine with my modern approach to making mixes that sound like the song in your head.

I've been writing, producing and mixing music for 10+ years, but having just finished law school I'm mixing for third parties to support going full-time.

I came up working in EDM, then pivoted hard to Rock before finding my middle ground in Pop. Experience in these different genres means that I'm versatile, and that's led to success when mixing other genres like Hip-Hop, RnB and Country.

Many engineers who've had formal, traditional training from either college or mentorship will approach your mix in the same way that engineers have approached mixing for decades: either using or mimicking the workflow of a large-format console. I won't pretend to do this, and instead will use cutting-edge tools and techniques that mixing superstars keep to themselves. Without spilling too many secrets, teaching myself to mix EDM in the box before knowing what a console was led me, by chance, to develop a system that looks very different from the average mix engineer, but very similar to the highest-achieving engineers like Serban Ghenea.

I'm offering an introductory, discounted price as I establish myself on the market, but the price does not represent the quality of my work at all - you will receive stellar limited and unlimited files that rival or beat the most popular mixers on this platform.

Interview with Sean Lees

  1. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  2. A: I run everything on a fully-specced Mac Studio, with a Universal Audio Apollo as my interface. I use Audeze MM-500s as my main mixing headphones, and Yamaha HS8s in a fully acoustically-treated room. I mix with the highest quality industry standard plugins in Studio One, and use a Presonus Faderport to set levels and write automation.

  3. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  4. A: My day-to-do involves providing full-stack services for artists I personally develop: this includes co-writing, producing, recording, editing and mixing. I am a professional at all of the above, and am excited to offer those services as a freelancer for the first time.
